First, I don't post often, I like to lurk and get assistance on my plays. But I read everything you guys post and sometimes I have to comment.
Truthfully, this law means nothing to me with the exception of the $$$$ I have tied up in my book and Neteller.
I have emailed my US Rep and told him of my disatisfaction with his AYE vote on HR4954. Today he (more likely an assistant) has replied that he has rec'd many inquiries on his vote and that he will release a statement regarding the "Internet gambling" portion. To me, this is at least proof our voices are being heard. What will become of it, probably nothing, but at the very least this Rep knows I will no longer support him or his party.
Next, rather than speculate I decided to contact Neteller myself. We communicated via telephone and email. The information they provided me backs up what we originally thought. Their reply:
Dear Mr. XXXXXXXX
Thank you for your inquiry. I would like to remind you first, that NETELLER
is an online money transfer service, not a gaming site; However, I do have
the following information to offer you.
Although new proposed U.S. internet gambling bill was passed, we want to
assure you that we do not anticipate any impact on your ability to transact through your NETELLER account.
Please feel free to contact the customer service department at any time as it is always best to keep yourself informed as to updates and changes to any particular payment services we offer.
I understand that you may have further questions in regards to this matter.
For more detailed advice in regards to this bill you may contact our
compliance department at compliance@neteller.com and they will be more then happy to assist you .
To me, this means things will be business as usual and I, for one, will not panic or worry. I have removed a good portion of my funds from my book and moved them to Neteller as a precautionary measure, but aside from that, I plan on keep playing until I cannot play anymore.
Thanks RX and gl to all.
