Been a long season for me...today I get it rolling again...
Complete mismatch on the mound today IMO.
While several of the Cardinals have nice numbers vs Wells...nothing changes the reality that these Birds were 9-18 on the road vs LH's this season. They really struggle against crafty LH's like Wells. Also, Wells has been very good against the Cardinals...including last season's 8 inning shut out performance in St.Louis. Plus he is a "big game" pitcher...while Weaver is a "rag armed" never-has-been.
But the real key here is Weaver cannot get LH batters out. Cannot back him against a team with a bunch of Lefty's. Have to play against him in these situations.
Bochy has loaded his lineup today with 7 lefthanded batters.
Looking at Weaver's splits:
Lefty's hit .340 vs Weaver
Righty's hit .267 vs Weaver
I played the following:
San Diego -140 1400/1000
San Diego -1.5+155 500/775
San Diego 1st 5 innings-137 685/500
