So much for Europe standing up.

Both sides got something:

"Under the deal, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will no longer have an automatic right to pull data from European airlines' computer systems, and must instead ask for such information.
The department also may disclose passenger data to U.S. law enforcement agencies only if "they have comparable standards of data protection," Frattini told reporters. It cannot give those agencies direct electronic access to the passenger data, he added."

I don't think anyone ever thought that an agreement would not be forthcoming.

What did Europe get?

Before the Us could pull the data. Now the US has to say please give us the data and Europe automatically says ok...

Thats to cynical Sean. Suffice it to say the Euros will sweep it for any CEO of companies America does not approve its citzens doing buisness with. Or anything else along that line. They are going to protect there citizens. By getting a first look via a heads up request, they will know something is up, and act accordingly.

There will have to be nobodys or a person of interest that in no way brings excessive media exposure before the list is release released.

The US was holding a seious number of gaming execs hostage over there. Louisiana has 50 warrants out. God knows what else is out there.

You think they are/were going to let that continue.

There will be no rollover. No one is laying down. They simply dont fill the request when people ask or delay it till things are met to there satifaction.

There is nothing anyone can do about it. They have control of there database back.

The US blew it. The element of surprise and sneak are gone. That Carruthers move, plus subsequent threats against the citizens/workers of gaming companies in all of europe, did them in. Add Swift is no longer cooperating and for a CEO of a legally operating gaming company, you lose two ways to keep an eye on everyone in the world and police those who should be policed.
