I usually buy tickets from a scalper right before gametime when I go to events, but I was wondering if this is possible for the world series. Is it best to secure tickets beforehand or are there plenty available outside?

With all the good online sources it is often better to buy beforehand for really big events. The big events get mostly real pros selling tickets and few people have an extra ticket to sell because someone couldn't go like you always see for regular season games.

Anyone have suggestions as to how to get the best deal on tickets. We hope to get lower level seats. I know a lot of people use stubhub but I have seen much better value on ebay. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

IF you go to the street you will save 300% on your money.

Yeah it will be much cheaper on the street but don't count on lower level or many seats together...stubhub, ebay, razorgator, or try local brokers...

Yeah for other games I go to I payed less than half what I saw on stubhub. Do you think I would still be able to get good seats though right before gametime for the WS?

I paid $1600 x 4 for upper level shitty seats at Busch stadium for the WS game 4 in '04 on e bay before we left RI. When we got to the stadium (granted St Louis were in a 3-0 hole) there were plenty of seats available for $500-700. Just a heads up.

NO. You are better off getting them before hand. I also recommend stubhub. If you wait closer to day of game and go on stubhub, a lot of times they come down in price. You simply would have to meet with them before game as they will have a central location. They also guarantee tickets. Whalewager also has tickets if games are played in WS. Nice tickets as well. Check with him.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if there were lower level seats available as well? We are looking for 112 -119 or 136-143.

Bring the map with you, will be tons of selling on the street and plenty of good stuff. Detroits economy is in the toilet so no problem getting good deals, If you use a broker or ebay you get raped.

Ok any last minutes tips? We are gonna buy them at the park. However my buddy saw on the news that the cops were gonna be out in full force that night tomorrow looking for scalpers. Hopefully this doesn't play too much of a role.

Economy or not with 3 million people in the area and 45,000 seats there will be plenty of demand. Add in some Cards fans and some Tigers fans who live outside of the area and I doubt economic situation means shit when it comes to WS.

When Silicon Valley was in the shitter for a few years the Sharks sold more tickets than ever. Team was winning and had good teams and the fans showed up. Same thing is sure to happen in Detroit.
