A's are now the favorite in this series as Tigers are +100 at Greek and Pinnacle. Not sure why as I still like the Tigers and am taking another bite now.

You talking series bet?

You know I respect your opinion Smartz, so I'm curious as to why you're going with them. Thanks

A's
i think they have better starting pitching, better defense.

tigers are 'happy to be here' and a's have to feel its there time, 'hungrier'

a's have homefield and are a slight underdog(at least when i took them)

kenny rogers is the key to their starting pitching? this guy has always been
a hothead, and b4 pitching against the buttclinched yankees he sported a 9.?? era in postseason. he may pitch well in oakland , but i'll think i'll fade his percieved success against the yankees.
i am a a's fan. but i think these are my thoughts after watching a fair amount of a's games, and baseball in general.

a's have also been playing solid team ball, don't forget how the tigers faired in aug/sept. past is past, but i feel its the a's series here.

good luck ev1 and lets go a's.

I want the Tigers to win here, but predict Oakland wins in 6 or 7 games.

frank thomas 58abs 6 hrs.

kenny rogers 2006@oakland 2-0 13ip 11hits 7ers. 3hrs.

just wanted to make the point that some have said, rogers owns oakland hitters.

Better starting pitching?
Just happy to be here?
How they've faired in August / September?

:coke: :coke: :coke: :coke:

New season. Better pitching, both starters and relievers. Better Manager. Better team. They get it done, and it starts tomorrow. I very much like the A's team, and think what they do year in and year out is quite impressive, considering everyone they've lost the past few years. Billy just continues to get it done. However, don't you think the A's are just happy to be here, considering they finally won a postseason series??

A's for the series. Tigers are getting the attention because they took down a stacked yankee lineup with a minor league pitching staff. Not to say the Tigers are a bad team but I think the A's are being overlooked for sweeping the what was the best team and home team in the last 2-3 months of the season. Going into the playoffs the Twins were the team nobody wanted to face.
The A's own every pitching matchup in the series depending on if Harden goes Game 3 or 4. Bullpens i'd say are about even but the a's in my opinion have a deeper pen of more reliable relievers. The whole A's have no bats thing is getting old. They score enough to win games and have been doing it for the entire season. 3 runs on johan, 5 on bonser, 8 on radke. I really dont think the Tigers pen is better than the Twins nor are their starters outside of Radkes dead arm. Bonser was pitching as well if not better than Verlander and Bonderman and theres no way Robertson or Rogers can stack up against Johan. Zito, Loaiza, Harden, Haren looks to me like 4 aces in the rotation and i'd take that any day over Robertson, Verlander, Rogers, Bonderman. I cant make a strong argument on that based on the numbers but from my personal perspective I like thier rotation alot more. The addition of Harden this late in the season is huge because no Tiger has faced him this season and his arm is fresh.

double j,
i was saying tigers imo settled with the win
A) beat yankees
B) lost 119 2 years ago
i'm just saying that tigers feel justified proving themselves this year. may relax, but this may be a good thing
a's have been sick of hearing there names with braves/bills.

just a perception definatly not only reason to bet on or against anyone.

I don't see why people keep playing up the fact the Tigers slumped out of the regular season as some kind of reason for picking the A's..

it's pretty safe to say they are offically out of their slump-- they proved that by dominating the Yankees..

on top of that how many times has it happened where a team has limped into the playoffs and won the world series?? off top of my head the yankees in 2000 and even the whitesox in 2005.. just because they limped out of the regular season doesn't mean much..

the MLB season is a marathon, not a sprint.. and the Tigers won 2 more games than the A's overall in the regular season, and they were in a tougher division.. and you better believe they aren't just happy getting to the ALCS.. it's the opposite. ever since Game 2 when they proved to themselves that they do belong and are THAT good they have looked flat out scary. more impressive than the A's even.

whatever though, not like I really expect alot of ppl to take the Tigers in this series... just like all these fools on here who told me i was "Pissing my money away" when I was on them against the Yanks.. all I can do is keep stacking my paper by riding this team. Just like i did against NYY I will against OAK.

I jus hit the Tigers -110 for the series. GL for those who are with me.
