On the west coast we don't really care about the Yankees.Yeah, they have money, whatever, The Angels own them. But between the Cali/Nevada state line and the Atlantic they get way, way to much focus. I feel like Det saw that series as the world series.

If the A's win game #1, get out the broom.

I think the series goes 6 or 7. What makes you think the A's will sweep this thing if they win game 1???

I'm a big Tigers fan, living in Michigan. It's been an amazing season. I think they win the A's series, honestly. The good thing is, and you'll probably agree....the Yanks are sitting at home!!:puppy: :103631605

and no the Tigers didn't see it as the WS.. If anything it jumpstarted this team even more. after limping out of the regular season and the way they lost the division (losing 3 straight at home to Kansas City) I don't think they were feeling too great about themselves coming into the playoffs..

them beating the Yankees reminded them that they are THAT good.. and now they are looking to take the ship home, they aren't satisfied just being in the ALCS. don't fool yourself..

on top of that this Tigers team is just flat out better than this Athletics team... As have no offense, not a very good pen, and yea they have good pitching but I still would take the Tigers starting pitching over the A's in a 7 game series.

Tigers take this in five.

Sweep...I don't think so, unless it's the Tigers doing the sweeping.

Maybe you've got to be a Central Div fan to have seen this, but by the end of the year, the Twins were not a good team. They ran out of gas, and fell backwards into the title despite themselves. Granted the Tigers didn't look any better, but it's clear now that they just hit a little slump. The Twins collapsed, and the same sloppy defense and poor hitting that we saw at the end of the season continued into the series with the A's and got them swept.

The Tigers seem to be back in form, and aren't going to give away runs like the Twins did. Hell, all the A's had to do was play mediocre ball, and that won't cut it against this Detroit team.

you may think the tigers win but don't believe these statements.

DETROIT ERA WHIP IP R ER H HR BB SO W-L SV BSV Pct.
All Games 3.53 1.297 2.9 1.3 1.1 2.6 0.3 1.1 2.2 21-20 47 16 74.6%

OAKLAND ERA WHIP IP R ER H HR BB SO W-L SV BSV Pct.
All Games 3.60 1.366 2.9 1.2 1.1 2.8 0.2 1.2 2.2 26-15 56 19 74.7%

a's season 4.8 rpg, tiges 5.1, i believe if you look , a's hit better after all star break. couldnt find it though.

"they have good pitching but I still would take the Tigers starting pitching over the A's in a 7 game series. " -this statement i believe to be wrong. although arguable, don't forget rich harden. experience favors a's here too.

gl all tigers followers, should be good series between 2 scrappy and likeable teams. i've routed for the tigers all year, until now.

Meathead.....you're right, it should be a very good, scrappy series. Looking forward to watching it, and going to Game 3 Friday night in Detroit. Both teams have certainly earned their way here.:103631605

I'm not an A's fan. Not close. But the Tigers went flat down the stretch and the A's dominated in the 2nd half. The Twins almost won the division in the final series of the year.

Are you on drugs? Thinking that, ok but writing it makes me think you're trying to be an attention whore. Nice try. Not going to play this game. FYI, the series goes 5 or 6 games.

No. Last night an undefeated team played on MNF and the lead story on Sports center was "IF" Torrie would be fired. IF? They're out. Much like the Royals (with cheese) they get to watch the rest of the playoffs from the comfort of their respective living rooms. That's the BS obsession I speak of. And (this isn't attention whoring but will create a stir) places like Det, Chi, Balt, Clev, the entire state of Penn and DC live in the shadow of NYC and the Yanks. And are obsessed with beating them. Kenny Frickin Rogers shot champagne into the f'n stands after they won. It wasn't focus on the A's. The A's danced around. When the White Sox won the series last years they didn't celebrate like the Tigers did after winning nothing.

To me, the Yanks are an old over priced, poorly run team. Shit, the Red Sox have been better over the last 5 years and god hates them.

Lastly, Rogers hasn't been a pressure pitcher at any point in last 20 years. My bad, until Friday.

So now they're setting him up for a game 7? Know why? Leyland knows his "dominant #1" is a really the guy who walked in the winning run in the world series, not Cy Young.
