Leisure & Gaming (VIP SPORTS) said on Tuesday it would block U.S. online gamblers after web gambling is banned there and that it was in talks to sell its U.S-focused business.

"It is the view of the board that following enactment of the legislation it will no longer be appropriate for the company to serve U.S.-based customers and that the company should focus solely on its existing UK and Italian businesses," it said.

Leisure & Gaming (LNG.L) said it was reviewing whether to suspend, close or sell its U.S. operations.

For anyone on this forum to suggest this new legislation will not effect U.S. citizens is totally absurd.

This bill, if signed by President Bush, will have a dramatic effect on offshore gaming for many and most UNITED STATES online gamblers in more ways than one.

1. Several offshore shops, such as those like VIP, will no longer be servicing U.S. customers.

2. Payment and depositing of funds will become more difficult and more of a hassle to the majority of U.S. customers.

After this law is passed, it will be more difficult to get pot than it is to gamble. This law does nothing.

I am shocked how scared some of these books are. The publicly traded companies are the worst to bet with.

Can we get a list of who is publically traded and who isn't?

"solid"/"strong" operations will fight to the end..however i think that sb/casinos that are not a very good position will find this as a good excuse to simply close doors and keeping most of the player funds..

I still can't believe all the books and casinos that are closing US customers. Aren't we too big of a market to shut out? How are these places going to make it with so much less of a customer base?

Can we see a list of what books so far have closed their door to U.S. customers or will once the bill is signed.

The Asian market is one of many other markets that is growing by leaps and bounds.

This is going to turn sportsbetting into the wild west. With no "BIG BOOKS" to play with a lot of squares are going to end up falling prey to these stupid mom and pop joints that are just going to end up stiffing them in the long run. I see danger on the horizon if the "BIG BOOKS" pull out of the US market because squares are going to splurge just trying to find a place to play............

Thanks Frist you just gave any crooks offshore a license to steal.......

I am reassured somewhat that most of the big A+ rated books have already said they are not going anywhere

I don't get the "BIG BOOKS" reference.
Should Pinny, Cris, WSEX, and The Greek pull the plug then I'll worry. My logic tells me those four in particular should thrive in the current climate.

I should add that the above four I mentioned and a few others should begin to slowly corner the market. How can that make them anyting but stronger to put up a good fight.

Anybody not think so?

Give me those four and I really don't need any others.
