I don't expect this to be an easy series for either team, but I think the edges are with Detroit.
Detroit has won the series against Oakland 2 of 3 times this year. Offensively Detroit has scored 7 or more runs in each series.
The offense has been consistent and in a 4 game postseason sample for Detroit only 2 players are batting under .200. There isn't any one player who carries the team. RBI's are spread out with Granderson leading(5). The A's win over Santana was impressive, but that's about it. They have 5 players batting .200 or below in a 3 game sample. The replacement of Ellis could also be a factor replacing him with Jiminez who is hitless in the postseason. 6 players have 1 or none RBI's. Scutaro leads the team with 6 RBI's. Take him and Thomas out of the equation and you have= no offense.
The best thing the A's have going for them is the fact that undefeated Harden hasn't had a start against Detroit this year. The information I have is Harden will pitch once in GM 4. This could be pivotal if it holds.
Verlander and Robertson need to step up their game in order for Detroit to win. Rogers and Bonderman are a combined 3-0 against the A's TY.
I think the series will play out like this:

DET(ROBERTSON) @ OAK(ZITO)W
DET(VERLANDER)W @ OAK(LOAIZA)
OAK(HAREN) @ DET(ROGERS)W
OAK(HARDEN)W @ DET(BONDERMAN)
OAK(ZITO) @ DET(ROBERTSON)W
DET(VERLANDER)W @ OAK(LOAIZA)
The key is getting non blowup games from Robertson and Verlander, and keeping the offense consistent. I think Tigers can pull it off.
