I like the fact the A's have been here before...Detroit may be happy to have beaten NY...I don't think it will matter though, Oakland is playing much better baseball.... Aside form the past couple games in Detroit, the Tigers have been abysmal.

Oakland in 6

I don't care if you were Joe Torre and knew you were going to throw the series against Detroit, NO ONE saw that coming, no one.

same to you Tulsa

I think Oakland has good shot to win tonight, but no way they win this series.

when has oakland been here before? this oakland team has never seen success. there are only a handful of players left from those 1 series and out days of rhe last few seasons. these guys haven't tasted the second round ever. now if you're talking about oakland of the bash brothers days, then i see what you mean. but then i can just go back to the hayday of detroit. lets face it, this is uncharted territory for BOTH ballclubs. what you need to ask yourself is this... who was better pitching? who has better hitting? tigers had the best era in the majors this season. top to bottom, i see more pop in the tigers bats than the a's. i don't see how the a's will score run off the tigers pitching staff. and even if they do get into a slugfest, the tigers have the bigger bats. pudge comes up huge in the playoffs. remember the marlin's run? pudge drove in a ton of runs and managed the pitching staff like a wizard.

I agree with Poker Ninja...when has Oakland been here before?? They've shit away so many opportunities in the past 5 or so years. When have they won a series until the Minnesota one?? If my memory serves me right, they've actually had 2-0 leads on two separate occasions recently...only to piss the next three away and lose. I think the A's are just happy to be here.

Leyland won't let Detroit settle for beating the Yankees...they still have to beat the A's, then whomever they face from the NL. In my opinion, they're going to do it.

Oakland has been a playoff team and has a veteran team...the Tigers sucked til they went back to Detroit..geez guys don't jump me for a simple statemet..I like Oakland...they have ben in the post season several times, was my point.

Just ask yourself this...take away the last 5 days and who would you be betting on?

thanks , enjoy the game.

i dont like the fact they are throwing robertson at all right now...i understand the confidence thing and leyland wanting to show his players he believes in all of them but they are so close...contrary to what was said about rogers being spent after the last effort vs nyy its still 5days rest if they had thrown him tomorrow instead of game3...he doesnt lose at oakland...think they shoulda gone

verlander
rogers
bonderman
verlander (4days)
rogers (4days)
bonderman (4days)
robertson

anyways thats just my 2cents...

fwiw, i bet a's to win series to once again hedge out of my 15-1 on det pennant...i did it during the regular season and it saved my balls so im doing it again and putting money in my pocket and thats what its all about...i also just bet NO -264 at pinny on det winning the WS to put more in my pocket...

im am shaded more heavily to det winning this series and the WS so i will continue to pull for them also b/c i like the team and hope they get it done...but as far as sweating it out...thats no longer an issue...

Pal?? Never was jumpin' your ass J-Man, just stating my opinion. This is also the first time I've ever posted in one of your threads, and have respect for your baseball capping.

If I was going to get testy, I would have done it during the regular season with you.

Is pal offensive to you?

and what does that mean anyway? (if you were?) I had a bad year , never hid that fact...I took a long time off, I bet pretty large and it wasn't a great time for me to be betting too much else was happening financially and I could notmaintain my unit levels after losing early...The NFL and late baseball has put me back in position, this will still be a bad year for me, either way...a couple months of losing can be bad (short term)

I just asked why you liked Detroit?

Not offensive whatsoever:103631605. Seriously J-man, I've never posted in a thread of yours, but you came very highly recommended to me before baseball season. Everyone had a tough season (Chop, Bucs, yourself...the list goes on), including myself!! A strange year to say the least. There was so much bashing in all all threads, which I don't take part in. That's what was meant when I said I would have been testy during the regular season.

I like Detroit for several reasons...strictly my opinions:

1) Better pitching (starters and relievers)
2) Better bats
3) Better base running (A's won't even attempt to steal on Pudge)
4) Better Manager
5) Better Fans (A's will probably have 5,000 there tonight)
6) Team of Destiny (like the Marlins, Red Sox, White Sox)

I just have a feeling, and I live in Michigan. I'll be at Game 3 Friday night...and they don't lose when I go to games.

Ok fair enough...A Detroit fan...I rooted for Detroit all year BTW.

I can see Detroit making this a series, but I like Zito tonight especiallly...this is a must a must game for the A's...much more important for Oakland.

I don't compare myself to Chop or Bucs...but yes it was a tough year...I had a bad 365 days though a REAL YEAR LOL...trust me it was not pretty, it just seemed whatever I selected the game feel apart...I had a phenomenal two year run prior but really struggled the past 365 days...
