Guys this is imo the bomb.just upgraded my satelite system today to the new 7000s Hughes and if you want a system that is super fast in downloading large files and going from page to page that will leave roadrunner in your dust this is it.it has a little price to it 79 a month after you buy the modem that cost 199 but if you like me that spend hrs a day working on the net it the way to go........ck

HEY, CK...glad to hear you're flying at high high high speed.

Do they offer a modem that goes into a laptop?

And if so, could I then use it to access my account from anywhere in the world?

Well, that's actually kind of an open ended question which I'll take over to the Tech forum...

I'm sure that such internet satellite feeds are available, just don't know where and how affordable they are.

This past 18 months I've started traveling more for my drug policy job and expect to be on the road about 60 days next year. It would be cool to not have to chase down hotels with free broadband.

Kyhawk yes in hard rain storms it goes down just like direct tv, but imo the plus to the system is far ahead to the negatives.and for people that download large files it is the best imo..........ck ps Fat Tony yes i hate time warner and that got me into the satelite thing, i have direct tv also,no cable here for me anymore.......

i think you mean 8000/768 (down/up)

if it was reversed that would be a nightmare.

He was just going up/down, that's all.

Living here in SC, the ISPs truly suck balls. I'm looking at 768 up and 1.5 down. And at $35 a month. What a bargain!

The ISPs here have a handshake agreement not to build into other areas, so you're a captive to the ISP based on where you live. I could get 1.0 up and 3.0 down for the same price, but I don't live in the right area.

Sure, if you're prepared to carry around that satellite receiver dish and point it at the right place when you're ready to go online.
