For months, all the poker forums and poker players were like - fuck the sports guys.

For months, we wanted to work with the poker guys.

Now the law comes.

Every major sportsbook that used to service the US except 365 and maybe Stan James or Will Hlll (Not sure either served the US ever) has said fuck off to the US government.

Half the poker places have folded.

If I didn't lose one book, you'd have to search long and hard to find books to lose. I lost 365, I suppose in principle, but my limits have been $25 for years there.

I will sleep well tonight.

Haha

Their "poker is not gambling but a high-skill game" argument just doesn't fly anyway. Who do they think they are, horse racing bettors?

Stan James took US customers but as I recall they didn't take Neteller so it was difficult to deposit there.

sean i have no idea what you are talking about. Poker Players helped fund the PPA which helped fight this bill while there was nothing similar out there set up by sports bettors until the last minute.

And while many poker rooms have folded many have not like Full tilt, stars, absolute to name a few.

And don't forget that many poker players are sports bettors and vice versa.

Apparently the state of california's decisions have not crossed your path.

Prime -

Some poker players fought with the sportsbettors.

Many poker players have and continue to push for a poker exemption.

Every sportsbettor has fought for internet gambling. Many poker players have only fought for poker.

Well, since california ruled that poker was a game of skill and therefore legal, many thought it could apply nationwide. Obviously, they were wrong, but while they fought for poker they also fought to strike down this bill in total. From what i saw on these boards and on boards like 2+2 there was more being done over their to stop this bill.

In fact, they have a whole section dedicated to this legislation. I consider this the number 1 sports bettors information site in the world and yet this site was way behind (in general) the poker sites when it came to even recognizing the potential impact of this bill.

They did a lot to stop the bill, but their main goal was to spare poker - it was very clear in thier lobbying and efforts.
