Marveling at Tom Glavine's night, season and career it go me thinking, who is the ultimate crafty lefty (no such thing as a crafty righty)

Glavine would have to be high on that list . :suomi: (i hate him)

though not as good as Glavine but what about tomorrow's starter for Detroit, Mr. Kenny Rogers.

Pretty crafty and actually fun to watch as he usually has total control of alot of things around him on the mound and plays very good defense. Fun to watch pitch (IMO).

I think old, and can't throw hard (anymore). Jamie Moyer. Frank Tanana. Bill Lee.

Tanana was a flame thrower at one time but really did become the crafty lefty .

There was a good question years ago, back in the late 70's , when Guidry, Tanana and Mike Flanagan were all on op of baseball, the writer asked which of these three would still be a good pitcher if they lost their good fastball, and all the experts agreed that Tanana and Guidry had no chance without the heat...Tanana really did have a whole nother career as a crafty pitcher.

Tanana and Ryan back to back were muder on opponents in the mid 70's.

STEVE CARLTON...........next question.

He was awesome but crafty is not the word I would use. How bout NASTY that damn inside slider to the righties was not hittable.

Scotty McGregor was another good one...he had just enough of a fastball 88 MPH to keep hitters off balance...once he lost that 88 MPH fastball though , he was complete garbage, he couldn't throw hard enough to keep hitters off balance anymore....When your fastball is no faster than you're change up it is time for the ministry, and that is what he did.
