just a bit of information.

Bonderman was originally drafted out of high school by Oakland. Billy Beane was against drafting him (he thinks high school players being drafted is foolish) and was vocal about not signing him and even said he would be a failure after he was drafted. He even stated so in his book, Moneyball.

That said, Bonderman wants nothing more than to prove Beane wrong. I dont know if you can make a playoff game any bigger, but this one is. This is personal.

The price is kind of high and I dont like laying this kind of price, but in this case I will

That's a great piece of information. He always pitches well against the A's also. I went Det -1.5 +138, but I think they clinch tonight.

In Michael Lewis's book Moneyball, he is given as an example of an unwise first round draft pick. However, he debuted in the major leagues when he was 20 years old; most other rookies in baseball are several years older. He had a rocky first season in which he had a 6-19 record (the Tigers as a team nearly eclipsed the New York Mets' record for most losses in an MLB season). He was benched for the final week of the 2003 season to avoid the fate of becoming the first pitcher in 23 years to lose 20 or more games in a season (however, his teammate Mike Maroth did end up doing so before the end of the season). He did fare better in 2004 by going 11-13 with a 4.89 ERA. Bonderman had a season of contrasts due to injury in 2005, as evidenced by his season splits, but on the year showed improvement with a 14-13 Won-Loss record and a 4.57 ERA and a 4.10 xFIP.

I read the book, worth reading. Beane doesnt make many mistakes but an obvious one here. A's get swept today.

Haren is also fired up for having a limp Harden who has started all of 10 games or so all season get the game 3 nod over him.

Not saying you're wrong and he doesn't have emotion but just mentioning how intangibiles such as these are always a factor for both sides and should never be the determining factor.

Also, being fired up isn't always great for a pitcher. Many times a pitcher can come in fired up and be irratic and make mistakes because he thinks hes invincible.

Having the other team say you are not Major League quality vs. having your own mananger not believe in you and move you back in the rotation. One seems like motivation the other seems like doubt.

This is only one angle on the game. I like Detroit for many reasons but thought this was interesting. Seems like a lot of juice makes the a's sweet to many.

Good discusion here, always like that

He is facing a team that hasn't hit the entire series. If he shuts them down, it has nothing to do with Beane. It has to do with the fact the A's middle of the lineup has not showed up against the entire Tigers staff.

I like Haren in this spot. The line is over inflated due to the publics love with the Tigers after jumping to a 3-0 lead. I had this line at Detroit -110. I'll take this line everytime and win at least 50% of the time and make some money.

Good luck to everyone today...anything can happen.

Although it's not a winner (yet), this wager will cash by the time the game is over. After not cashing the multi-sport wagers, this feels real nice (but still will be down). Time to enjoy the rest of the game.
