Explain This Enigma

I was a bookmaker for 20 Years and in that time I learnt that the real profits are in laying multiple bets ( parlays, etc) and not overlaying flat Bets ( single bets) yet time and time again the Jokers on here post ridiculous numbers apparently got by clueless Locals. Such are these numbers that there is no way a Bookmaker could stay in business and as a stance to these posters who quote Locals, Just answer,

NO TO LOCALS YOU DOPE, NO TO LOCALS YOU DOPE. :drink:

Are you saying the books real profits are in offering multiple
bets to their clients? Or that's where the bookie loses?

When you speak of not overlaying flat bets, does this mean
you don't lay off or you insisted punters take the other side
when one side gets too heavy ;

To be honest things went a bit deeper than 2 horse books, most of the time I was pre-occupied with 18 runner Horse H'caps while dealing with Commission Agents holding Thousands for certain Horses. The normal course was bartering between Them and what We thought was going to be the Starting Price, I really could Write a book about the game if I stopped drinking but Two Horse races like NFL and College come very easy , I have to laugh at pinnacles moves to confuse the Punters. :drink:
