From the too good to be true file comes futurephone.com. All you do is call an access # in Iowa I believe (check their website for the #), wait for the prompt, diall 011, the country code, the phone number and your international call goes through free o' charge. It's free even from a cell phone! Curious to see if international cell to cell is free too...

I read about it in David Pogue's column in The New York Times and he swears by it which is good enough for me. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Nice Hans! My cell plan gives me unlimited minutes to anywhere in the US on weekends. I can call Singapore free from my cell by dialing an Iowa number!

Incredible isn't it? I would have been more skeptical if I hadn't read it in the New York Freaking Times. The company's got something up it sleeve for the future, but for now, it's totally free.

They either have advertising or will eventually have you listen to like a 30 second ad before putting the call through... This is not the first company to do this with long distance.

Sean,

No advertising at all. I agree they have some agenda for the program when it reaches some critical mass, but until then I'm going to wear it out. My wife calls Europe all the time and she called her family from her cell all weekend. I called T-Mobile and they just had record of the Iowa call which was gratis of course.

Need to save bucks after the NFL dogged me this weekend.
