How secure is a moderator job ?

I'd say that's a shaky job. I know most mods here have other jobs. I'd be concerned if that was my meal ticket. I know figures on what it pays from contacts ( not RX), and offers I've considered, but declined... put it this way, there's a reason mods have regular jobs !

It probably only gets worse from here going forward.... Can you see going to Marty and demanding a raise ?

:missingte

site owners lower standards to get ad revenue, not so much here, but pretty obvious with EOG and TOW, and I like Roberto.

Lets see if this thread stays, gets rubber, or ?

I can't speak for moderators, but as far as forums themselves, it has to be a pretty scary time. Ad revenue is the lifeline of these sites. It seems like a lot of sportsbooks are taking the "wait and see" approach when it comes to how they will proceed with the new bill being signed. If they decide to cut back on their advertising budget for American faced marketing opportunities, that would definitely put a big dent in the money this site receives.

I hope it doesn't happen.

The best thing posters on this site can do is use the banner links up top anytime they are going to visit or sign up with a book.

As far as I know, Kodiak was never a mod at this site.

Actually pretty secure here at The Rx. if you do your job. I have been a mod here since December of 2003. Dante, Journeyman, and Fishhead all have been mods here longer than I have..

Compared to all jobs across the board in the offshore gambling industry a moderating job here at The Rx is as secure as any.

wil..

Do full time mods get health insurance and a 401k plan do they report their income to the IRS or does the RX take it out before they get paid like other employers.:icon_conf

people laugh at me when I say this is a hobby for me..basicly all of this gambling is a hobby I can go weeks and weeks without making a bet

. I am just a parttime mod im here mainly during the week to KILL time while at my real job

I do not view this moderating as a "JOB" I am a people person and like people and conversating the small amount of money I get to do it is nice also ..but the day I start viewing posting on the RX as a "JOB" will be the day I need to move on...

thats just me personally I know other mods do this FULL time but I doubt they would be going anywhere

I had a friend who was a host at True Poker. Three years ago she was making eighteen bucks an hour.

I have been with The Rx for almost 4 years (Dec 2002) I didn't come on as an actual 'Mod' til I guess about a year later... I will be the first to tell you the day that I can no longer work for this site would be EXREMELY difficult as I truly LOVE this place and it has become a way of life for me.

It is a unique thing we have here, thousands of sports and gambling fans all conversing daily, I have a hard time going a few hours without wondering 'what is going on at The Rx forum' ...I don't know if that part is always a good thing, its like a book you just can't put down.

....I hope we are all here talking about the 2015 World Series.

Wow, I thought Kodiak was a mod a couple of years ago. Just goes to show what a newbie I was back then.

Unfotunatley it will be left up to the goverment to decide that Jman.

If the new gambling law is the end of it id say we could talk gambling on the 2015 world series.

However if they keep going after internet gambling and pass new laws that eventually go after the person placing the bet id say it would be all over.

I think the next 4 years are key in deciding the direction of internet gambling and sports forums.

Vote for candidates that dont want to take it away from us.
