I just got back this morning from a few days at the Borgata, and was taking a walk on the Boardwalk Friday night.

The Sands is being demolished and a new casino is set to open in 2011.

The Sands was a fun place at one time, anyone remember that upstairs was nothing but $5 Blackjack?

It's a dump now, and poor location really, but I just wanted to pass it on to anyone who didn't know.

Historical place.

That was my favorite casino back in the day (late 80's/early 90's).First casino i ever gambled in (only one that didn't check id that good). i remember it before there was even a second floor! No horses either.
Exactly 1 hour 50 minutes (without traffic on the Belt/Verranzano) from Howard Beach To the Sands, i remember it like yesterday(and that was with stopping to piss at the exit 98 G.S Parkway rest stop,lol)..Man i miss those days, not a care in the god damn world. Didn't even know they were knocking it down, that sucks:cryingcry

My favorite as well..If your luck wasn't going well you could just cross the street to the Claridge.:toast:
If i wasn't in Idaho until December i would take a ride down there before they close.

I believe Pinnacle Entertainment group bought the Sands if I remember correctly. They were in on Aztar as well. I'm not real sure, and I'm positive Wild Bill knows.
It is NOT Pinnacle of offshore, but a newer casino group by Steve Wynn's former CFO Dan Lee.

Every year that place looked more and more dumpy. Just like the
whole damn city. I remember back in the early 90's sneaking into
Sands and playing BJ till my friends and i lost every penny at the tables.
During the summers i lived in Wildwood, but on one occasion we had to
make the trek back to north jersey with not one dime left in pocket. My
buddy pulls on the side of the road on the garden state and slaps
a couple of brown paper bags on the license plates. The only way
we were getting home is if we could obviously get gas. We pull
in the gas station and tell the goofball to fill the tank. He fills it and my
buddy yells so long sucker. About a mile down the road we pull over and
take the baggies off. Young and feeling invincible. Man those were different days.
