Old people have problems with gambling. My dad lost $189 of my money trying to clear a BJ bonus.

Teaseman is probably right about this--I'm thinking that the son was a gambling degenerate and he's going to try to use his old man and the US legal system to welch on his bet....

The Pilgrims will use this situation for their argument against on-line gambling. Most people on the fence, or who don't care in the least about on-line gambling, will probably start nodding their heads...I hate reading stories like this.

You're right about the bible thumpers loving stories like this but your arguement implies that there are "people on the fence". The reality is you've got the religious fundamentalists who hate online gambling and guys like us who enjoy it. We both make up a very small percentage of the population. The rest of the world isn't so much "on the fence" as they just don't give a flying f*ck....

You are absolutely correct, my man. And what makes it even worse is that the mainstream news media reports idiocy like this under the guise of "news" and that the buffoon in this instance doesn't even have the backbone to take responsibility for his (or less likely his dad's) behavior and its consequences.

So if shit like this is going on, can someone "contact authorities in the US and try and get a refund" when they play BJ in Vegas ??

I don't understand what the hell is going on down in the US. Just tax the f'in thing. If they did the same thing as England, make it legal and tax it, we would all win. The government would get a piece of the action and peoples money would be safe.

Instead they are so far ass behind the rest of the world, they just make up laws to kill it for everyone. :finger:

Just a question .. is it still legal to transfer money from your bank account to a casino in Vegas ???? If someone wanted to play BIG MONEY in Vegas, how do they get around these new laws. I can't see people walking around with hundreds of thousands of dollars.

What's the difference between this, and the church secretary who steals five figures from the new steeple fund to squander at an Indian casino?

This guy has no chance at getting his money back....

Anyone who plays ANY online casino game outside of poker, deserves to have "IDIOT" permanent markered onto their forehead for life. You cannot win in the long run going against a computer program that is specifically designed to make sure you do not win over the long haul.

They don't *need* to get around those laws because they're protected by our Congress and Federal government. Ya see, gambling in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, in Indian casinos, in the many poker rooms across the country, your local church bingo game and, of course, the lottery is GOOD. Betting horses online, provided you live in a state where its legal to do so, is also GOOD. Playing poker and betting sports online is a horrible activity that destroys families and is BAD.

Just waltz into any casino in Las Vegas and you can pull money out of an ATM machine....

What casino?

"At a typical casino table with 100 hands being dealt per hour, you should expect to go on a
losing streak of 10 hands in a row about once every 15 hours of play. Expect to go on a
losing streak of 15 hands about once every 60,000 hands (every 6 years). And about once in
your lifetime playing 500,000 hands, expect to lose 18 hands in a row."

Wow....nice statisical research ; )

Also, worth noting that the guy who's father lost all the jack is a *paralegal*. Any chance that one of the lawyers he works with is putting him up to all of this?

So has this been debated.

How is State Lottery, Vegas, Atlantic City, Indian Reservations and all the poker room accross The US GOOD, but Online Casino and Sports Betting BAD ?????????

How is one different from the other ????

Besides the obvious, taxing it, what is the real difference ???

You have to be a mega-genius like Bill Frist to understand the subtle distinctions that make some forms of gambling GOOD and other forms BAD. A lot of it has to do with who cuts a check for a campaign contribution....
