macha fired

weird timing, i guess him a billy just couldnt get along. he still has 2 years left on his contract after letting him go and bringing him back in the offseason.


i didnt even have a big problem with his coaching in the post season. he had injuries(ellis , justin duch) which exposes a tight payrolls bad bench. they had a guy play 2nd base making his major league debut.

his big hitters didnt come through in the alcs.(thomas, swisher).

chavez looked a step slow at 3rd(never seen him play that erratic,i've watched him since rookie season).

all of his starting pitchers fell apart pre 6th inning. he was right to bring in street in the 7th bases loaded. one more out and they wouldve probably brought in blanton.

sure couldnt blame the manager for that postseason?

i thought a's had a very solid regular season, had angels playing catch up for most of the season, despite numerous injuries(crosby never looked right this year,chavez either, and harden, arguably their ace)

just makes me wonder, not that i was in love with macha.

i hope ron washington gets a good hard look.

after reading the paper this morning , it was 'obvious' to the club he had personality issues with a lot of the players. billy kept using the word, disconnect.

thinking about ron washington, a's 3rd base coach. he is frequently miked during preseason games. he is a character. supposedly loved by the team. he also was a guest on the post game show on the weekends "the weekend wash"

the year after the angels won, the a's played angels in preseason and wash was miked. he was talking to scott spezio, a former oakland a, spezio just popped up with the bases loaded in like the 4th inn.

ron washington "see, now you know why we got rid of you, popping up like that...."

spezio "did you see the world series last year?"

washington after a beat...... "that was you?"
