The Cardinals can barely hit the pathetic Mets pitchers, Detroit's staff will shut BOTH teams down.

Glavine, Traschel, Maine and Perez???????

How bout Bonderman, Verlander, Rogers and Robertson

A little of a difference there.....
The difference between any of these teams and Detroit is the hunger these guys have. They want it badly and they will get it.

I have a ton of respect for Tigers sp and relief pitching but lets ask a few questions. First, these young pitchers will be facing the most pressure in their career in the WS. Yes they pitched well in ALDS and ALCS but they have not had their backs against the wall yet. If they do, how will they react. There is a big edge in experience if Cards get to WS. Think the fact that they have been there before is huge. Third, how much does 04 play on Cards minds. I think the fact that they got swept in 04 is going to add some extra motivation if they get back. Fourth, Tigers weakness especially with no Casey is lh hitting. They are very rh oriented which happens to be a Cards pitching strength. Cards pitchers Carp,Weaver, and Suppan are pitching very well right now and will be in it the entire way. Cards weakness is lh pitching but they are doing enough as witnessed by beating Glavine and Wells and in last series of season vs Brewers in Capuano. Cards got swept by Detroit earlier in the season in Detroit but all 3 games were close. This series is not going to be walkover if it happens and will be tight the entire way. I think Tigers would have easier time with Mets than Cards imo.

If it is the Cards-Tigers...

Cards best shot would be if LaRussa keeps Rolen on the bench. Aside from Rolen's kindergarten and immature behavior since September...

He is now 4 for 39 since the 2004 World Series. Rolen-Rod.

Last night he hit in the 5 hole and had a chance to show LaRussa and his teammates that he was going to break this "Arod-like" postseason run he is on. Everyone knows how that ended...a strikeout with the bags packed.

LaRussa keeps playing that big baby and he keeps letting his manager and teammates down.

Spiezio should have been at 3rd base permanently after game two. Granted Rolen can pick it at third...but that does not make up for the rest of his baggage. He did not get a hit when the Red Sox swept them in '04, and Rolen-Rod still is not producing in the postseason.

I remember that HR off Clemens...but that does not change anything. He is still killing the Cards at the plate.

Will we revisit the `68 series? Who will be the stars? Who will come up short? Stayed tuned, this one should be good.
