This used to be all I used before netteller.I understand books are not using them anymore.Exactly how did they get blackballed.Exactly how can those transactions be pinpointed to gambling?Maybe a huge amount yes but If I were sending $500 to a individual to another country then how do they know it is not for a car part,a gift,or for something I bought on ebay?If I claim that then how would they even be able to say "no this is a gambling transaction"?
Does Western union just not send money to these countries or these receivers anymore?
Maybe I am out of the loop as to why Western Union stopped working as a way to fund sportsbooks.

I think the real issue is that WU is so much more expensive for the books than something like Neteller.

Most books will pick up fees if the deposit in question is large enough, 1000 or more for sure.

Exactly...there may be some minor changes you have to accept in the future but life will go on pretty much as usual for us sports bettors.

You "doom and gloom" types really need to get some perspective. No one cares about this at all outside of the bible thumpers that oppose this and every other form of diversion and us gambling types who want to be left alone to wager in peace. No one--least of all the Federal government--is prepared to shut down the entire flow of money in and out of the country just to keep people from betting on sports. It's patently absurd to think that.

If you're not willing to deal with a little uncertainty about what's going to happen, or not willing to deal with a few added fees here and there that's obviously your decision. The offshore gambling world will still be here when you regain your will....

whats going to hurt much worse is the fear and panic,,,,, and a run on the books, when they say "boo" again.....

stay at the big books,,,,,,,,, stay with fedex and wu........ be a little patient --- when sending and receiving money....... find a good local and carry on with business as usual......

You should take a look at some of the many news articles I've posted....there apparently has been a "run" on the publically traded books and poker rooms. And you know what these people did when they withdrew their money? They took it right to PokerStars or BetCRIS or some privately held outfit and posted up.

Of course your advice is good--patience is always a virture, not only in sports gambling but in every walk of life. And I've never understood why anyone wanted to dick around with marginal books anyway. If you stick with the big names in the offshore industry you'll be safe and be able to play for as long as you want...

WU is now a public company.

The State of Arizona wants to seize consumer-to-consumer money transfers to Mexico as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, the company's chief executive said Wednesday.

The warrant would require the company to pay money transfer funds above a certain dollar amount to a designated account rather than sending the funds to intended recipients in Mexico, the company said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

The amount? $500

WU has won the first round: The Western Union Co. has won a court order temporarily preventing Arizona from seizing consumer-to-consumer money transfers

Arizona State Court Announces Seizure Warrant-Form 8-K
2006 Sep 21 | 11:00 PM
The Western Union Co. in its Form-8K reported that on September 21, 2006, the Arizona Attorney General's Office obtained from an Arizona state court a seizure warrant relating to person-to-person money transfers originating from Arizona and 28 other states with intended recipients in 26 locations in the Mexican state of Sonora. The warrant applies to money transfers which exceed a certain dollar threshold. This threshold is higher than the average amount transferred to Mexico. The seizure warrant requires that Western Union, in lieu of making such transfers to the intended recipients in Sonora, Mexico, pay the funds to a designated detention account. The warrant states that it becomes effective on September 22, 2006 and continues through October 6, 2006. Western Union intends to seek a stay of the seizure warrant and other judicial review and otherwise to pursue its legal remedies, including remedies to protect the rights and privacy of its consumers.
