I see head football coaches make egregious errors in their game strategy every week. Despite having dozens of assistant coaches, many teams don’t seem to have a clue late in the game. Given this, teams should strongly consider hiring a game management coach responsible for these decisions.

i tell myself all the time........ what the heck are they doing????? or didnt they see that????????

clock management is just terrible....... besides that, every game there is a play that should be challenged or they shouldnet have challenged, i know team have this 'replay' dude - but he sucks...... at full speed without replay 99% of the time im right....... us gamblers must have a keen eye for this stuff - cause its absurd that these million dollar teams cant even see simple shit........ a few years ago - when i was thinking this i was going to contact a pro sports team and tell them for 50k a game i would be this person..... but then thought - they would think im on crack

I think that a lot of it is due to getting caught up in the energy and emotion of the game. Sure it's easy to make calls on the couch, but when required to look after so many things and people on a team and during a game, it gets a LOT more difficult.

Fezzik: Gamblers should coach
so that coaches could fix the games!!

the title of the article should be

"Gamblers would win if they were coach."

that's why coaches coach, and gamblers whine and write articles!

I think coaches are generally risk averse, just like most of us. Also, I think that many of them don't want to take chances that could backfire and be perceived as egregious errors that affect their careers. People remember the risks you take that fail more than they remember the ones that pay off.

A big example is that coaches should go for it when it's fourth and goal from the 1, 2 or even the 3 yard line much more often they do. This is because even if they don't make it into the end zone, the other team will get the ball on the 1 or 2 yard line instead of on the 20 or 30 yard line. But they almost always kick the field goal in that situation. Now, I'm not saying they should go for it in that situation every time. Its definitely situation-dependent, but certainly they should go for it more often then they do now.

Now Bill Belichick, he's my hero. He always seems to make the correct decision. Any surprise that his teams have won 3 out of the last 5 superbowls?
