Are there any redeeming qualities to smoking cigarettes?

Personally, I don't smoke but work in an environment with lots of smokers. I've always been an advocate of individuals rights, but cannot find one argument for a redeeming quality or health benefit of smoking cigarettes?
Anyone have any arguments for cigarette smoking?

Maybe when you are 13 Joey, and it will get you laid with the pee-wee cheerleaders. That is the only pro-cigarette argument I could give some merit to.

Just as drinking alcohol is, I truly believe that if one could do so in EXTREME moderation, smoking may have positive benefits longterm.

1. It naturally relaxes a person by virtue of the breathing exercises they perform(which would be better accomplished if they did not smoke).

2. Some of the properties of tobacco can release calming properties.

OVERALL, best to abstain completely for the vast majority, as most cannot do so in EXTREME moderation.

Also, there are times when smoking is found attractive by the opposite sex, so it can be a bridge to a new relationship.

For real?
Someone is attracted to another because they smoke?
I mean looks, personality, body notwithstanding you or your friend actually say "Man that girls not that hot, but boy since she's smoking that cigarette it really makes her attractive"?
Come on.
A hot girl smoking would be a hot girl not smoking (arguably even hotter in some eyes).

As soon as I see any sign of a girl smoking she goes on the 'not a chance' list, I don't care what she looks like...instant turnoff....I mean how do you kiss a smoker, I mean no offense but for someone who does not smoke, how can you go thru this every hour of your relationship?

You only get redeeming qualities if you're already a smoker...if that makes sense.

I love to smoke when I'm drinking it makes everything go down smooth, I love to smoke after I sex my girl, I love to smoke in stressful situations, I love a good smoke after my morning coffee, I love to smoke when I'm in sweating a tight game and I love to smoke as an excuse to take a break from work.

Yeah it's bad for you and gets things disgusting but I'm still in my 20s so I'll probably quit before I have kids or if I get married or in a few years or something but right now I'm enjoying it. Plus, everything I do now is bad for me. I'm a smoking gambling alcoholic drug addict with a temper!

Some chicks dig it.

The only real adavantage to smoking (other than yellow teeth) is getting to chat up the birds in the outside smoking area. Sometimes this is the only oppurtunity to approach these women.

Was interested to hear the smokers point of view. Honestly, the ones I come across would rather quit but can't and don't give any arguments for other than they need to do it.

This is true. A smoker is more likely to be a big drinker, more likely to take more risks and will be less likely to balk at your unauthordox requests in the sack.

Smoker + painter's radio = no problem
