Thanks for the reminder.........will record it with my new digital cable mechanism if I'm able to figure the damn thing out.

Was at this game........betweeen the 25-35 yard line half way up on the east side.

Still regard the 1981 10-7 victory over Roger Craig and the Nebraska Cornhuskers as the single greatest Hawkeye win that I ever attended in person............considering the underdogs the Hawks were in this game and how the win was a huge stepping stone in turning the Iowa program around under coach Hayden Fry.

However, hard to state it was any larger than this meeting of #1 and #2 teams in the nation in 1985 with Michigan.

Both GREAT, GREAT college football games and feel lucky to say that I was in attendance for both classics.

Fish, I hope you can record the game. My system seems to be on the fritz, so I can't. Remember, you were also at the game when Chuck Long drove the Hawks to a game winning T.D. (he scored it on a bootleg) against Michigan State, that sent the Hawks to the Rose Bowl against U.C.L.A. I believe I had tickets, but gave them and I say "gave them" to a friend so you and he could go to the game. And by the way, beating Michigan was a much bigger win than beating Nebraska. Granted the Huskers were the Huskers, but winning #1 vs. #2 can not be matched, especially in Iowa City.

On second thought, that might have been the win over Michigan State when Gordie Bohanhan was Q.B. and the Hawks played Washington in '82 Rose Bowl.

The vast majority would certainly agree with you, and as stated, nothing can top it overall.

Wish I could see a replay of that NEBRASKA game though........as it was "a classic" many Iowa fans of this generation have no clue about(Stadium and LinzIa to name a couple) that as mentioned, was the game that recognized FRY was doing something very special in Iowa City............something that has carried over to this day. Many may not recall, IOWA had upteen losing seasons in a row(18?) before the 1981-82 season.

Stay tuned, will get you and Iowa fans a sound clip of this game by Jim Zabel............brb.

Click link below and go to the year 1981...........then click on the soundbyte for September 12th.

Hear JIM ZABEL in all his glory call out the highlights of this monumental game against Nebraska.

Listened to this no less than 20 times and it gives me goosebumps everytime I listen to it.

Nebraska had defeated Iowa 57-0 the previous year!

Great video and soundbytes on this site of Hawkeye football............the best call may be when Iowa defeats Ohio State on the last play of the game...........forget the exact year(ZABEL at his BEST).

The late great REGGIE ROBY averaged over 56 yards per punt in this game and in doing so did not allow NEB to have good field position to start drives for most of the afternoon.

I might be wrong on this but isn't Iowa 0-8 lifetime vs #1 teams?

I don't know what Nebraska was ranked at the time, but Michigan was Number 2 and Iowa number 1 in this '85 clash.

Have either of you been up there to see the current stadium rennovations? I'm curious to hear anyone's thoughts on it. Sadly enough, I heard the pink visitor's lockeroom survived. From what I've seen and heard, it sounds real nice up there.

I was at the Iowa/Ohio State game a few weeks ago and Kinnick is much improved. But so were the Buckeyes since the last time I saw them, in 2004.

Jim Harbaugh would have more clashes with Hawkeye safety Devon Mitchell in the NFL as they played in the same division..............Harbaugh with the Bears and Mitchell with the Lions.
