Suppose all athletes were allowed to 'cheat' , would results really change much?

I really don't think the games results would be that much different than we see right now if professional sports came out with a new set of rules ALLOWING the following;

steroids
the Clear
hgh
uppers
Joe Neikro nail files
corked bats
bats stuffed wth super balls
Belitna-stickum for NFL receivers
spitballs
sandpaper
team footballs spiked with a little helium for kickers
scoreboard man stealing signs

It sure would be a lot easier than trying to enforce this stuff...let them play ....and above all else get rid of instant replay.

There is such a HUGE degree of advantage a player can obtain between the things you have listed

A corked bat is nothing compared to 'steroids'

And you forgot greenies. Come on Journey, thought you were a fan of the old school.

Rob I am...I am just wondering how many are cheating , it seems everyone is in some way.

I'm just wondering how different the games would really be if those rules were allowed? Probably wouldn't make all that much difference.

You forgot the damper dude at the Metrodome...don't think he ever let his Twins lose a big one at home.

There shouldn't be ANY rules restricting one from enhancing their performance to its potential...while aren't the fans the ones who are really cheated when their entertainers are restricted from performing at their very best?

I know Journey. Just giving you a hard time.

I think some of the things you have listed would made a difference in the history of the game. Sosa, McGwire and Bonds. Those are 3 very talked about players. We wouldnt be talking about them much without their cheating. Remember how awesome most thought Canseco was for the 40/40 deal? He should not even be there.

Of course the cheating has wrecked the game and mutilated history. Why would anyone think otherwise? Because last night Rogers had some tine par on his palm for an inning, washed it off and still pitched good? It is not like saying Barry get rid of the cream and clear and then still goes out and whacks 73 HR's as a guy past his prime or whatever. Cheating has clearly ruined the game's history.

You may end up like the old Saturday Night Live skit where they had the "Steriod Olympics" and the weightlifter ripped his arms off.....

Just imagine if Eddie Murray would have not used steroids, he might have ended with 800 hits and 25 Hrs

If Jim Palmer used steroids he wouldn't have been able to do the Jockey underwear ads.....
