I can't get over these clowns. I rarely watch anymore, but when I do its always the same shameless self-promotion bullshit. Today they are bragging about having the five highest rated cable shows in history for MNF. What they don't tell you is that viewership is down nearly 10% from last year's MNF (which was an all-time low), and that they are getting their ass kicked by Sunday Night Football.

Then they are talking about a game being played abroad and they just have to throw in the last time a game was played abroad was last year when AZ and SF played in Mexico city....."broadcast on ESPN"

I know, not everyone has Cable, but I bet 99% of the people that watch football on a regular basis do. I hope ABC comes out with a report that says MNF continues to sink in the ratings....oh that's right, they are owned by the same company!

cable shows will never compete with ABC, NBC, FOX...it can't happen due to sheer number of homes without cable tv. They can only compare to cable shows.

Whose cock would you prefer they stroke?

WC- Agreed. I despise ESPN any more. About the only good thing on ESPN is Ron Franklin when he does Saturday Night College Football. Otherwise, they just keeping getting worse and worse. This whole "in your face, boo yah" shit is old. The worst is the NFL Game Day Crew. Start Scott and Michael Irvin with that assclown Berman. How can anyone sit and watch/listen to that shit is beyond me.

I think they keep telling each other how great they are. I don't think the issue I have is self-promotion as much as it is arrogance. Humility is just never seen - unless they're ball-washing during an interview.

SportsCenter is not what ESPN anchors think it is. It is relatively popular but a show with a 0.2-0.4 rating is not something to brag about - the ratings for WWE or the Westminister Dog Show is 20-30 times higher than that of SportCenter.

Who the hell doesn't have cable or satellite?

MANY people don't watch much TV. A lot of people actually just watch network TV, listen to NPR, do yoga, eat tofu and read books.

Also, many people only have the very basic cable - which gives them local channels, a couple of religious channels and a few shopping channels.

I believe that network TV is available in 111 million homes whereas cable is available in 91 million. Assuming that ESPN is on basic cable, and I believe it is, then subtracting 18% from network ratings should give a comparable cable rating.

I was ballistic when it was posted here a year ago that MNF was gonna go from ABC(mass America) to ESPN(cable/dish only)..usually the best things in life are free.

Kornheiser(love him in print and on PTI) is the second-worst MNFer of all-time even behind Dennis Miller(great stand-up comic and Evening Update on SNL), as neither were/are Cosell..and nobody gives a damn about his Fantasy Football team

Tirico(great at Golf..Det sports teams..SportsCenter) is adequate but not Al Michaels..

Theisman is solid, but really needs another solid Football guy in the booth to bounce takes off of(is not Madden for sure)

P.S. How the hell the brainiacs at ESPN have relegated the Gold Standard/Golden Voice of Ron Franklin(and just so happens to ooze College Football) to a two-man booth of "backup" games on the Deuce, just about sums it all up for me..probably a decision by the same Mensa behind those fictitious/masturbatory GM press conferences of Steve Philips for all teams..or that silly-ass SportsCenter Sportscaster Show..or Stu Scott's Rhymeology..or darts and dominoes..

Kudos however for ESPN 360..makes for excellent second tube coverage to big games when side-by-side to main ESPN screen..like Cowherd's takes and interviews also!

Best sports announcers in the business:

1.) Mike Patrick
2.) Mike Tirico
3.) Ron Franklin

All the rest are miles behind these guys.

I'd definitely rather listen to Al Michaels and John Madden any day over them

Your average football fan has Cable. I'd be willing to bet the vast majority of people who do not have cable, or better yet, access to ESPN, did not regularly watch Monday Night Football when it was on Network TV.

It's not an event anymore, it's just another game. Viewership should compete with Sunday Night football....it's getting blown away.

I'll give you Franklin because he does have a reat voice, but the other tow are average at best. I still like Musberger because of the enthusiasm he brings to the game.

Most underrated: Gus Jones on CBS NCAA basketball.

The best in my opinion would Ron Franklin, Bob Griese, and Muffburger (With Muff you know within the first 4 minutes of the game what side or total he's on)

ESPN has now broadcast the two lowest rated Monday Night Football's EVER in back-to-back weeks.....their spin?

'Monday Night Football' has been a phenomenal success each and every week," ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said. "Now, the top 10 most-watched shows in all of cable for 2006 are 'Monday Night Football' games."

What clowns....the NFL too, they belong together. Can't wait 'til it drops below 5,000,000 viewers and ESPN bills it as one of the top 25 shows on cable EVER!

Absolutely correct. Sunday night is now the premiere game of the week. MNF is just another game.

Doesn't this also have to do with the quality of the games? Caronlina/Tampa Bay, Oakand/Seahawks arn't exactly going to attract high volumes
