As we saw in last night's game, Tony La Russa still has a lot going on in his noggin. He is currently*1,003 victories behind all-time managerial wins leader Connie Mack. Given 85 wins a year (the Cardinals average over the past six seasons), it is not out of the realm of possibility that he could pass Mack at some point in the 2023 season. Seen here as a player in 1964, his best major league season was already behind him - a rare feat for a 19-year old.
