This is very odd and it is in the minds of Cards fans and Cards management I'm sure:

The last time any team blew a 3-1 lead in the WS? The 1985 Kansas City Royals came back from a 3-1 deficit and beat the St. Louis Cardinals.

In 1968, The Cardinals were 3-1 leaders in the WS over....over? Yes. Over the Tigers.

1968 WS:
Game 1: St. L
Game 2: Det
Game 3: St. L
Game 4: St. L
Game 5: Det
Game 6: Det
Game 7: Det

So far, the games in the 1968 and 2006 WS match up exactly through game 4. The only reason any of this means anything? It wouldn't but I'll guarantee you Leyland and La Russa and some people involved in the series know this AND that makes it matter if only a little bit.

Look, you know I'm not saying this is a trend or anything, just interesting and these 'facts' will be in the minds and hence affect this series, albeit in a very small way. Detroit has a long row to hoe. Bastards.

Cards also blew a 3-2 lead going back to Minnesota in 1987, here's to wishing it happens again.

BTW the series SHOULD be tied right now....I have never seen a more pathetic display of defense in a big game like last night..Merry Christmas...If you listened to some of the Cardinals fans you would think they actually deserved that game last night.

sun shines on a dogs azz every once in a while.

i'm a lifelong cards fan...so sure, i'm biased. but to say we DIDN'T deserve that game last night, or any game leading up to last night is bogus. it's called preperation. sure the tigers have shot themselves in the foot 6 times (6 total errors) and 4 by the pitching staff. that doesn't mean the cards don't deserve this win. it just simply means the cards came to play...and as we say in cardinal nation.."we came to play a hard 27 outs!" this stage is too big for the young (but very talented) flamethrowers that the tigers possess. give it a few years and assuming their staff can remain healthy...their pitching is going to be scary good.

no bashing meant here...just defening my team.
