Actually - I take my retraction back. As bad as they looked (and they did look bad), they at least took one game. Have to think some of those teams that were swept couldn't have looked any better. I remember the 1990 Reds (I think) smoking their opponent in 4 games
The question should be Anyone recall of worse World Series?
Dirt-gate, a rain-out, porous defense and Joe Buck.
Personally I'm glad it's over - Oh yeah, congrats St. Louis!!
The Tigers smoked whoever they played in the AL playoffs. I can't imagine if the WS would have been better if another team was in it from the AL. But the Tigers peaked too soon and their pitchers can't field a baseball.
Sean Casey proved to be the only guy who could hit in cold weather. Pretty brutal though, Tigers offense showed up all post season when the temperature was at least 60, but below it and they struggled to get over 3 runs.
There was some bettors who made so much off Detroit winning the pennant that the WS would have been icing on the cake. Suffice to say that Chip can buy a Maybach for everyone in his family with the profits.
