So I needed to play off some bonus money at Ultimate Bet today. Figured I would just play some $1/2 limit HE games so I don't really have to concentrate and can do other things. To my surprise these games are PATHETIC! I was in one game where almost every hand was raise and fold pre-flop. The stats were 20% flop, $9 avg. pot. So I get in another game and the same thing happens, 23% flop, $10 pots. It isn't that you can't win on these games, it is just why would anyone who was willing to give action play in them?

This has to be troubling to all the sites and the poker community. I mean when $1/2 games play like $100/200 games how long can the games continue getting regular play? I know more action going in the NL games, but I have played them recently as well and haven't been blown away by the action.

UB is not known for its fishy players. Try Full tilt or poker stars and you will see plenty of fish. But you are right, the games are a bit tougher than before the ban. But hopefully that changes when funding issues get clarified. If not, we will just have to get better.

How do you get better when its raise and fold at bottom feeder games? I know UB wasn't fishy, but since the ban it has become downright rocky. Really makes me go hmmm, could there be some bots. There is almost no conversation in the room and I tried to get some with a provocative statement. All I got was a guy bitching to another player about how he just put a bad beat on him.

Even more ridiculous, I spent 45 minutes playing at one table. For 45 minutes I earned 7 UB points! What a joke, you can earn 30 points in an hour in a decent 3/6 game.

Time of day makes a different too. Party Poker has reversed, peak traffic and loose games are now in the daytime and it sucks at night.

Although UB didn't block U.S. players, so what's up?

PokerStars ought to be good.

Honestly a lot of times the higher limit hold em tables have much worse play. You have players that have a lot of money and play to have fun that lose and then you have players that want to take a shot and lose. i played very frequently the past two years and took a break for two months and came back recently expecting the games to be tougher but i was surprised that the players were just as bad as before. sometimes you gotta be selective but good games are still around. Also a lot of the fish started playing NL also.

I think online poker has peaked but it definetely isnt going anywhere and is still going to be very popular just not to the extent that it was at its highest point. it is too convenient

I lost Boss network to the US ban. Unreal games mostly eastern european. If you are non-US give them a try.

Full Tilt isn't known for fishy players either, you are crazy. I'm playing several tables 6 handed and everyone is less than 25% VP$IP and it's raise/fold all the way across.

I absolutely hate these raise/fold games. The only way you win money longterm is by pulling off balsy bluffs.

I always end up with the guy who calls my aa with 27o who then check raises when he pairs a 2 on the flop, calls my reraise and turn bets and then hits a 7 on the river.

I presume you are playing limit. I am referring to NL.

NL 400. I went from NL 200 6max to NL 400 full ring about 3 weeks ago. The full ring games are more rocky than the NL 200 6max games.

When i played NL 200 6 max there were rarely people under 20 vpip. the average was around 30 at the tables i played at.

Sounds like your sample size is too small here for these blanket statements about online poker in general.

It is obvious that you will earn Ultimate points slower at 1-2 limit, then most other games.

UB is also pretty well known to be very slow to clear bonuses. I have over 1K in stacked bonuses just sitting in my account, most of it from several years ago.

I haven't said it lately, but it bears mention again.

You cats who put real money into online poker have the biggest sets going, regardless of investment size.

I guess I'm just overly cynical that the games could be free of corruption.

Try 3/6, mornings, at the Flamingo. :nopityA:

If I wanted to make a good hourly from poker I would definitely be out playing live. But I have better things to do with my time and just play low limit online most of the time. Occasionally I get out and see some games that would make many of you shit your pants. You all ought to see this game they have at OSheas now. Its practically on the Strip there and it attracts all kinds of incredibly bad players into it. Excalibur has about the livest NL games I have ever seen sometimes, seen guys call off all their chips with second pair "because a guy had a funny look on his face". Without a doubt the live games have become far liver than onliine. Didn't use to be this way.

i will be in vegas this weekend. Where are the best 2-5, 5-10 games in vegas? I will be staying at the MGM.

As for AC, the borgata is heaven. The people come and play poker like blackjack and just throw their money at you.

Live games are far juicier these days then the online games.

Depends. Weekend games everywhere are generally live. I usually play limit HE, but I hear the 5-10 NL games at Wynn are pretty lively. Bellagio games are pretty good as well as long as there is a fair amount of action at bigger limits in the room. Venetian has good action when they have bigger games going, but recently its been nothing but low limits. MGM has good action as well, I think they have 2-5 so you may not even have to leave. The Excalibur games were all 1-2 when I went, but you won't believe the action. Sometimes you even get big overcalls on the river. All I can say is lucky for the players they only let you buy in $200 or less at a time.
