My son is gonna be 19 when he finishes highschool do I send him off to college or the airforce and then college or vice versa. He wants to join the airforce first. What advice you guys got?

The reserves used to a pretty easy way to earn a free ride through college, but the whole "reserve" environment is a hell of a lot different now.

Send him to college. Starting college at 22-23 would SUCK, and he'd really miss the boat on the whole college experience.

Is he college material if it took to age 19 to get out of HS ? Airforce first gets you college money, right ?

Plus it's his decision.

I would go by his maturity level. If he is ready for college then send him to school, if not the AF is a great choice (little chance of combat).

The 18 yo tang will not mind him being 22...

Air Force is relatively safe at least, Marines and Army not safe to get into right now

ROTC man! College, plus free tuition, and only 3-4 years to serve.

By far the best way to go!

his choice...he is an adult you did a good job at least you did not raise a lazy bum the guy has plan...I hope to be as lucky as you when my son turns 19 down the road

military for 20 or 30 years, whatever it is now.

19 now gets out at 39 with full pension and all kinds of benefits.

plus he can still get a job after that doing what de did in the service.

then your collecting two checks.

plus traveling the world you can still get women and wont miss out.

college is a waste anymore.

My wife did college first, and then was commissioned in to the air force as an officer. My brother-in-law did the air force academy in colorado and then flew the F15-E for a career. There are plenty of options. Military first to pay for school, or school first for a career as an officer in the military.
