There is all this talk about whether or not a Big East team should get a automatic berth if they go undefeated.

If there are more the 2 undefeated, why not just have a mid-December playoff game between the 2nd & 3rd BCS rated teams & the winner advances(and #1 & 4 if there is somehow 4 undefeateds)?

The only drawback I see is that it would take away from the monster matchups on or around New Years Day.

If an undefeates USC team would've gotten an automatic bid, why should Louis or WV be any different?

finals are in mid-december. universities already strive to make accomodations to athletes' schedules, but finals they are alot less lenient.

Top tier program universities facing 8 figure payouts make accomodations for technicalities (which finals often are for many players :missingte ).

some of you guys act like WV is a Boise State type program. They are not. They have tradition and powerhouse teams and are a big money maker for the school and the area. They have as good a program as most anyone in the country. Their facilities are unreal, probably top 5-10 in the country for any sport.

The Big East is better than any conference except the SEC. Prove me wrong

Don't even try to compare WVU to Boise State.

Boise State has a much harder schedule.

Institute a 8 or 16 team playoff and scrap the bowls.

However, just like NCAAB has the ACC-Big Ten challenge, do something similar with NCAAF.

Big Ten - SEC
Big 12 - ACC
Pac10 - Big East

Matchups based on preseason predictions (could use previous years results, but would result in lopsided matchups). Use the Bowl sites for the top 5 games for each conf matchup, so 15 bowl games. The rest of the games played at one of the teams home fields. Rotate conferences to play each other each year. Would make for some great nonconference games each September.

Why should an undefeated second place team that is just barely below the first place team have to win 2 huge games to get the title?

if you are going to have a playoff, do it right, and not half assed.

As much as I'd LOVE to see it, it's not gonna happen. Too many games, and they won't budge on that.

Let's just get some options so nobody gets shut out of the big game with an undefeated record just because their schedule was soft. It won't come into play that often at all, but why not let them have a shot?

it is not too many games if they are scrapping the bowls like cubs suggested

Sudden death the first weekend of September. You kill that with a playoff system, you kill college football. Every game counts and that is why college football is the best sport to watch on the planet.

Yes, if a Big East team is still standing undefeated at the end of the season, no question, they go to the title game.

The reason a program like Texas schedules a program like Ohio State is just in case there are three or more undefeated's or a bunch of one loss teams tied at the top at the end of the season. It's not so they can lose a game and then whine about taking on a harder schedule than the undefeated team. Strength of schedule is a tie breaker.

Did not West Virginia kick Georgia's ass in the bowl game last year????

This may not matter anyway. We haven't even gotten into November football yet. Still a lot of games to be played on a 12 game schedule.

Throw the Top eight from BCS into a playoff

1-8
3-6

2-7
4-5

incorporate the gms into the bowls by having the bowls bid for the games. this would take only 3wks unless you wanted a wk break before the final.

Oh please schedule or not Boise St would beat the piss out of overhyped West Virginia. WV won't be in the BCS talk next week as Louisville destroys them this week.

All other divisions of football have playoffs....during this same time period.

no playoff and no TRUE champion (hey I got an idea lets vote on it, thank god they don't do that in the NFL or the Colts would be repeat champs or my beloved Tigers would be celebrating our 1st WS in over 20 years) is why CFB is the DUMBEST big time sport out there.

Just think of the excitement a tournament/playoff format would bring. The CBB tournament would not even compare to what CFB could put out there on a yearly basis.

Until they fix this problem CFB will never be and should never be mentioned in the same breath as the NFL, at least we ALL walk away satisifed knowing the championship team earned their title.

It's actually stupid that in the year 2006 we are actually having this discussion.

what a goof! What part of Boise State's program leads you to believe they would "beat the piss out of WV"? Maybe that awful Blue field? How is WV overhyped? They have a good defense and a very excellent offense. They have been among the best teams in football for the past 15 games or so. They have an offense that would rush for 350+ yards against any team in the country. They haven't even had to pass much, but when they do, their receivers will be on single coverage. You get White scrambling out of the pocket and he can certainly find a target. This team has not even scratched the surface on their talent.

Boise St is good. Not saying they would blow out WVU, but they could definitley play with them, if not win outright.

and I don't think Louisville destroys WVU this week, will Louisville keep WVU off the field...doubt it
