This was news to me. But I never liked their casino anyways.

But their closing the middle of the month and employees are pissed with severance packages.

FYI I had no access to net at the trop. They stuck me in the north tower with no data ports or wireless access.:pucking:

Had to place wagers over the phone. Kinda took me back.

Oh yeah bro they're looking for a buyer to take over the building. But the Sands is gone as of the middle of the month. So employees dont have a chance to jump on board with the new Company , because as of this point there isnt one.

Maybe they'll do another "Hooters" casino up there. Who knows.

I like visiting The Quarter at the Tropicana. It's a one stop shop for everything. Is that what they put their money into?

Pinnacle Entertainment bought it from Carl Icahn (who owned the Sands) and is closing the Sands. They will tear down and build a new, much larger resort. The Sands was always the smallest, least profitable of the Atlantic City casinos. Icahn had been looking to get out of the Sands for awhile. He had to rebuild to really make a lot of money. Icahn's modus operandi is buying and operating distressed properties after spending a little money on renovation or additons.
