My wife has been in the hospital since Monday night. The hospital has taken good care of her. But man they always have to take blood every five minutes (it seems). My wife's viens are tough to get she has been poked more times than I poked her in the last year. She as it turned out has blood clots serios but treatable. She will be in untill atleast Friday or Sat. The fucking food has look terrible and just plain gross. Today they brought some sort of meat dish. It was an orange color kinda thing. And after that the dinner was a pork dish that was not looking all that good. Thank god I can bring her food from the outside world. The food just does not help what is already a shitty situation. My wife is my world to me nothing ever in my life will mean more to me than her.

ps. I hope she gets home on Friday so I can whip all your asses in the BC contest. lol

ok I vented that made me feel good somewhat

The food for patients in hospitals needs to be improved drastically............not only in quality, but for nutritional value.

RightySide: It sucks and I feel for you, but how would you like to be stuck with the health care that most of the rest of the world has to deal with. Our Doctors and specialists when the situations getsto be serious, save lives.
So a little orange meat and some brown fruit don't sound so bad. Stay close to her and make sure you tell her how you feel.:ok:

First off.....Hope wifey is okay.

I'm sure I'm in a huuuuge minority here, but I friggin' love hospital stays!

Only been in for overnighters a couple of times...one 3 day stay after a ACL/MCL reconstruction and one 2 day stay after a nasty finger gash got infected and needed emergency surgery.

Anyway, what's not to like????

Remote control, a good book, a spit cup, nurses doting on you, do not disturb button on the phone, painkillers just a phone call away, food's not the greatest but it's 3 squares a day and sympathetic family members will bring you IN 'n' OUT if you ask, sleep on and off at your leisure...........:103631605

'Course, I was married at the time so maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much!

RS, hope the wife recovers soon.

The only good thing about a hospital stay is getting hooked up to the morphine machine. It's even better than having a drug dealer who does house calls.

They told me I had more post-op pain than most Joey....which is why my stay lasted 3 days.

Mine was done in Vail at the world famous Steadman-Hawkins clinic where they operate on the world's finest athletes. Of course, I was just a Vail Resorts Work Comp. case but they treated me well nonetheless.

I had an epidural so my biggest concern other than pain was being able to piss after and not having to get a catheter. :monsters-

Not sure what the process is now, but I basically woke up with my leg in a machine that sloooowly flexed the knee back and forth so my range of motion wouldn't completely dissapear....and a garden hose size tube draining out all kinds of gnarly shit.

Once you get home, expect some sleepless nights with that leg elevated on a few pillows....Vic's and Perc's helped but I don't think I slept more than 2 hours at a time that first 2 weeks.

After that, my first stages of PT were ROM excersise, some water therapy and some electro stimulation of the leg muscles to cut down on the atrophy. After a few months they kicked me into the gym to start rebuilding muscle mass. I'm a pretty slim guy to begin with but the atrophy was the worst part for me. Quad muscles virtually dissapeared!

You'll propbably go through 2-3 different braces until your ready to get fitted for your final 'athletic' one.

This was all 13 years ago for me and to this day I still experience some 'discomfort' every now and again, but overall it doesn't affect the things I like to do. I started snowboarding instead of skiing.....doesn't bother me surfing....and the occasional p/u basketball game or beer league softball hasn't been a problem.

BOL!

I loved hospital stays when I was a youngin, no school+ all that you mentioned... I speant almost 10 days a long while back for a concusion, 10 day vacation :toast:

Rightside, Hope your wife has a very speedy recovery. I know what you mean about the blood testes, they suck; especially when you get a nurse who don't know how to get the vein in the first try, 3-4 pricks turn into 6-8.. not fun at all.

Believe it or not the care I have recieved from the VA in the last 18 months has been top notch. Always treated promptly and with respect I find that the VA does all of the important things with a high level of professionalism. Lots of Vietnam Vets now reaching early old age are being treated very well. I for one appreciate all that they do for vets at the VA.

Right Side, best wishes for your wife's speedy recovery.

The hospitals in the Tampa Bay area have to some of the worst in the nation. My girlfriend went to an R.A. doc, last June for a shot. Three days later, she's hospitalized. Five days later they say has a blood infection and is transferred to another hospital. She went blind in one eye and was hospitalized for nearly three months. She has never recovered. She was hospitalized for various ailments three more times last year, each time being around two weeks. This year has argueably been worse. She dislocates her hip and has a total hip replacement in July. They send her home without rehab or a brace. So she pops it out. Another surgery in August. She does it again, another surgery in September. Last month they had to go in and clean up the site for pooled blood. The medical society in this country is a sham. I don't go to doctors and I don't care if I filled with cancer or whatever, and have no trust what-so-ever in any medical person. Sorry to vent, but if been through what she has, and now what I have to deal with on a daily basis as her caregiver, you'd understand.

And I didn't even include a botched cornea transplant surgery for her eye. The hospital said they would not give her a glass eye, because if her other eye went blind, she would have no sight whatsoever. Well, she can't see anything with blind eye, even after the transplant. And the eye looks like shit, because it's smaller and sunken in. And as far as filing a lawsuit, we consulted two of the major firms in Tampa. They both said since her case wasn't a 'SLAM DUNK' they wouldn't take it. That's what sucks with lawsuits in Florida. They make it sound great by saying you only play the lawyers if you win, but that means they only accept cases they believe are a 'SLAM DUNK', therefore they limit the cases they take, since they don't want to spend the time on cases they may actually have to work for, to win.
