It seems like only sharps play there and if they want to bet big they go to Pinnacle. If this is the case does anyone ever wonder if Pinnacle is as safe as we all assume.

Not dogging them at all. Tey pay lighting fast and are everything a book is suppose to be but do you guys wonder if behind the scenes everything is as peachy as it seems to us.

If they were to go under it would rock the industry and believe me I am not saying this or suggesting this at all but why don't other books follow this business model? They make it look so easy.

Who are these guys? Where did they come from? Do their owners have DEEP pockets?

Don't get me wrong they are still my (and I am sure most others) #1 out but just baffles me that no one has challenged this company in the entire industry with a similar model. Are they just that much smarter than others?

I would strongly disagree that only sharps play there. Read this board and you heard of plenty of people who claim they can't beat Pinny whatsoever. Lots of casual players that are on the forums play there.

After re-reading my orginal post, I want to say that this is more of a compliment to Pinnacle than a criticsm. Hope it didn't come across that I was dissing Pinnacle in anyway.

Ice man ....I understand your thoughts ...
What I have been doing I only keeping what i need i my off shore accounts.
If you worry about transfer fees its a small price instead of loosing a couple of thousand if the book closes ....I have been doing this even before this whole panic ...My thoughts are that if I keep only a couple of k in each of my A+ rated books if one goes down then i will no that none are safe & go back to locals
as always gl ...

How about the sharpest of the sharps and quite possibily the highest pct of winning players play there. Not one so called "professional" gambler doesn't use Pinnacle heavy, I would imagine.

Maybe I am giving "sharps" too much credit. My point is (esp because of openrs) I always have GREAT numbers and mostly better juice at Pinnacle. Just seems that the bets most players have their are so much better than the average number that it has to effect their bottom line.

I think you may be overestimating how many actual "sharps" there are and how far their bankrolls penetrate the market overall. Although the casual bettor may be playing on a much smaller scale, they probably outnumber the profitable "sharps" 98 to 1. Then again, I kinda scoff at the whole square/sharp profiling.

Okay maybe I am contradicting (SP) my orginal post but my main question is "How does Pinnacle make it look so easy, it can't be that easy can it?".

I am sure they are 100% safe.

Most companies are scared to death to gamble and that is what Pinnacle does all day long.

Iceman:

The people who own/run Pinnacle are a lot smarter than 99% of the population. They are ivy league/MIT type guys. They combat the winners by lowering their limits and betting the sharp sides themselves.

Pinnacle adheres to a philosphy that I've never understood why other books don't:

If you have a consistent winner playing with you, why in the world would you want to kick him out or piss him off? Just follow him and make money.

That's my 2 cents.

Others have tried to copy Pinny. No juice tried and failed, mainly by not having enough backing and customers.

Trojan partially tries with limited -105. Mansion tried, didn't fail, didn't really succeed either.

Pinny advertises on many sites.

They are smart, and have great talent in making lines, beat them in something like Arena football, they hire you to make the lines.

They keep the limits at the right level, like $100 on German hockey. I think they started with enough, and have won enough to become a giant.

Go over to MW and search for the thread If Pinnacle is the best why doesn't everybody do what they do. Just put in Pinnacle or Pinny. All your answers are there.

As for where they came from, they were a west coast book from California when they moved online and brought there customer base with them.

I typically shop at several places before placing a bet. I find that almost invariably when I have bet something at Pinnacle some time afterwards there will be a better line at Pinnacle. This tells me that their prognostication is remarkably good.
