southwest is my favorite, prices are actually declining which sux but I made my money last 2 years, was hoping to do it for the rest of my life but oh well.

It is a buyers market down here so now is time to buy, last year you would pay full asking price and people were making bids on contracts.

I listed a home that had 3 offers the first day!

I have lived in St. Petersburg, FL for over seven years and have no complaints.....although I am not married nor have children.....New Tampa/Wesley Chapel is a nice family area, and would suggest you look into that area.....also Palm Harbor, FL is a family area as well (just North of St. Pete).

I agree with him, only part of Florida I lived that I didn't like. You couldn't pay me enough to live down there these days.

I have lived in Florida for twenty years and have only heard good things about the Ocala area - if you like rural.

The last four years have lived in NEW TAMPA, CLEARWATER, and ST. PETE.

I HIGHLY recommend the NEW TAMPA area, and even more so if you have children............best area in the STPETE/TAMPA/CLEARWATER area imo.

Other areas in Florida I like are SARASOTA and CAPE CORAL on the west coast of Florida, OCALA in the central region, and COCOA BEACH on the east coast of Florida.

Love Florida............and the humidity and bugs are nothing but a myth to keep northerners away. Hell, Iowa has more bugs and worse humidity...............to go along with their 2-5 months of sub-freezing temps.

Currently live in the Daytona Beach area and have for the last 6 years. My wife and kids love it here. I couldn't imagine ever moving up north again. Got my games in and going to Ponce Inlet to fish for a bit and enjoy the water, then back home to play late games and out with the wife for a great dinner on the ocean. I can't complain about Florida. Housing ass end dropped out and houses over here are mostly in the 150k to 250k and your getting a house less than 5 years old. Just paid 185k for a 3bed 2bath 1700sqft home with pool in a great neighborhood. Taxes are 2200 a year, a bit on the high side from previous house but still manageable.
