Has anyone got a mailing from the wynn in the past couple of days. We got one the other day and my fiance can't find it. we never opened it, Was it a offer for a discount room or just a advertisement. we might be going to vegas in two weeks and havn't booked a room yet.

Why would Wynn send a mailer to Kermit when he lives down the street. Not exactly the most efficient use of advertising dollars.

KIND OF off topic, but I'm in the middle of planning a trip to Vegas, as in my friends and I will be booking our hotel room within the next 7-10 days.

I live on the east coast, have never been to Vegas before, and basically wondering if there is any resource I could use toward getting a discounted rate if booking 3 months in advance? The trip will be in mid February, presidents day weekend, and rooms are 400-500 a night that weekend (NBA All Star weekend, which is reason we chose this this date). Now we are getting ready to pay the 1400 for 3 nights at the Mirage, but if someone here knows something I could do to stay at a nice hotel for cheaper than that please speak.

thanks:drink:

MrCleo,
All-star weekend the rates will be jacked up sky high.
Let the board know what you are looking for as far as location and prices and many experts on here will try to help.

$1400 for three nights??? Don't do it!!!!! I would check the rates at Bally's and Barbary Coast before I would ever consider paying $1400 for three nights. I have stayed at the Mirage plenty of times and their rooms are worth about $80 a night in my opinion.

thanks for the reply GD,

trust me Jaybird, we have been looking into this for quite some time now. and we have concluded we aren't going to avoid pricy fares fro the weekend. Hotels we are interested in: Mirage, RIO, Ceasar's Palace, Bellagio (if the price wasn't that much more than the others). Came up with these hotels because my friends have been to vegas before and liked these places along with other stuff i've heard. Now for the 3 nights in question, all of those places have given us a fare from about $1300-1500. Treasure Island was something we looked into but decided to pass on, was a little cheaper at like 1100 for the weekend. FYI its 3 of us and when I've been searching for rooms I've been saying 2 adults anyway.

The Flamingo is on me hard....I just got a comp Dec 29-31 + "VIP" New Years Eve party invite in the mail, and it wasn't a cheapy to put together.

It may have been the $2500 is wsop minor event entries, but this place is throwing the book at me.

This one is tough to turn down.

Might want to try Casino Royale for that time period. It's pretty low budget, but the location is right by all those hotels you mentioned.
If you can get $100 a night, that's a $1000 savings right there.

That would be approximately 50 lap dances, in bachelor dollars.

If traffic is bad for that weekend (which it probably would be) -- you really don't want to stay at the Rio cause you can't walk anywhere other than the Gold Coast.

Have you looked at Golden Nugget (Downtown), Boulder Station (off strip) or Sam's Town (off strip)? The two off strip places have decent sports books and poker rooms. Of course, downtown gives you alot of choices for sports betting. Game viewing is not as comfortable though becuase downtown sports books are mostly smaller with less tv's. Sam's Town has a shuttle to the strip. Golden Nugget or Boulder Station-- you have to cab it. You could probably get a suite at those places I mention --for what you're willing to spend. With the 3 people -- a suite would be advantageous.

Another idea would be the Hooters casino (used to be San Remo). Their rates are very reasonable. They just renovated so rooms are probably decent. Within walking (or stumble) distance of Tropicana and MGM.

Just kidding... looks like all the rooms are within $100-200 dollars of each other so stay wherever you want. I looked at expedia, which looks like its a little bit of a discount to what you are going to pay, but not a huge difference. As someone mentioned here, just because hotel rooms in vegas are expensive, doesnt mean they look much better than a standard motel room. One room I was impressed with was the Ballys believe it or not. Our room had a hot tub and suana in it with a huge panoramic window that looked down the whole strip. It was a giant room too.

Huh? It's not that far of a walk to the strip at all. Women in heels may not want to walk it, but it's probably only about 3 city blocks worth (a night thaw out if you've been freezing your ass off in a casino for several hours).

Yeah, I guess it's not a far walk but not something I want to do. Not crazy about walking off the strip while carrying alot of cash. Nor am I crazy about walking off the strip if I've been drinking... I tend to do alot of both of those things while in Las Vegas.

Rio is just across the street from the Gold Coast and the Gold Coast has a free bus that runs from the Gold Coast to the Barbary Coast every 1/2 hour I believe. Free Bus also runs to Orleans Casino to Gold Coast and Barbary Coast.

Its a shitty walk though, not to mention there wont be much thawing out on a February Day/Night. You have to walk uphill both ways (literally, because you are walking over a freeway overpass) while crossing traffic trying to get on the freeway. Much better to stay on the strip if thats where you feel like playing.

thanks for tips guys but I may have not stated this earlier, we are trying to stay at a 4-star hotel/casino type venue. Of course we could find some smaller hotels and places to stay at that are a lot cheaper but for this trip we tryin to do it real nice.
