Today I called my friendly offshore bookmaker to request a payout. I was informed that they require a photo ID prior to releasing a payout. I do not play all that often and it has been about a year since the Gods of Gaming have smiled on me so much that I could request a payout. This was the first time I have ever been asked for ID. Has this happened to any of my fellow posters?

Pretty common fraud prevention strategy. They want to be damn sure that YOU are the one being sent your money.

Happens all the time. And if you are lucky like me, it happens more than once from the same book.

welcome mailman. Don't sweat it. It is a necessary evil if you want to bet offshore. The only way out of it is to lose.

All books should require such before a payout. They want to make sure that you were not trying to fuck them over with bonus rules

but the funny thing is the account is opened under a name and address so if the player wants a payout just send it to the name on the account and address its not like you are asking to send it to a diff address and name

Yup happens all the time, be prepared for the following game:

Sending them fax, waiting 24 hour

They reply and tell you that it's too dark

You send them again, this time at Kinkos or some shit so the dude can make it perfect

They reply another day later, telling you this time it's too light and can you email them with attatchment

You email them attatchment scanned, they reply 24 hours later and tell you that you need to convert the image into jpg so they can open for security reasons

^ Exact scenerio happened to me last time I was asked for ID, took 3-4 days extra and 20 phone calls

to save time have a picture of your driver's License scanned and ready in your email to rocket by email out if your book requires it ....no slow faxing needed

True but if a book wants a copy of your id or any other info you should have to give it to them before you can make a deposit not when you want to make a withdrawal.

To Mr Fucnluc

Your situation happened to me. Not having a fax machine in my mailtruck I had to ask one of my business stops to send it for me. The book claims that the fax came through to dark and would have to be resent. Not wanting to wear out the kindeness of my customer I demanded to speak with a super at the book. After raising my voice the super grudgingly gave in without a second fax being sent. It seems fishy to me because the copy that was faxed down was crystal clear. I think the problem was on their end but they did not want to hear that. So I trust the check is on its way to me. Picture this a Mailman waiting for a Fed Ex driver !!!!
