Buying furniture is the most miserable experience

I used to think looking at apartments was as bad as it gets.

Then I bought a car (And sadly must do so again soon).

But now, I am buying furniture. This has to be the most miserable experience ever.

I thought I would just go online and order a couch, a chair, some bar stools, and a bed, but my mother has imformed me that you have to sit in the furniture first to make sure you like it. That combined with the $500 most of these companies charge to so conveniently deliver your new furniture to the roadside curb makes ordering online impossible. (I can still order my TVs online - electronics rule)

So then I started looking at furniture stores. When you buy a car, all the dealerships are next to each other. Same thing with condos. Whose great idea was it to spread out furniture stores? I don't mean they are just randomly spread out. I literally think that someone figured out the best way to take the 20 biggest furniture stores and make them all equidistant from one another throughout the city.

And then there is parking - or the lack there of because obviously, everyone is expected to walk from store to store that are at least 3 miles apart.

Arrrrgh....

I'll take back every nasty thing I have ever said about any exgirlfriend if just one will furnish my new place! I'll even buy jewelry, flowers, and not forget birthdays. You aren't getting rid of football damn it.

I can win $20K Sat and $20K Sunday, but I can't find a fucking couch.

Good luck this week everyone. Posting will be sporadic as I furniture shop!

If I won $40k over two days, I'd have my own personal couch shopper. I'd have them make a plaster mold of my ass and have them try it on each and every couch.
But then, I'm just a simple man. :103631605

Green - I like how you think. Tomorrow, I think I'm looking for a couch shopper.

Sean,
Go for the couch shopper/pipe cleaner combo. After the stressful day you had you need a woman who knows how to clean the pipes. I have several exes I can recommend.

I forgot about the best part.

Evidently, the best way to sell furniture is to make absolutely sure that it is impossible to find a price.

hi there, i totally feel you pain....a few mos ago we had to shop for new living room and bedroom. i musta sat in 1000 couches. then, just when u think u r done, comes the pricing. luckily #1is great at haggling....but it makes me feel odd...i wouldve paid full price which is what they hope for....but apparently is ok and acceptable to haggle!!! dont forget to do that. now we have an awesome bedroom set and wonderful living room group. GL!! if i dont have to haggle i could be your couch shopper....

PS #1 even haggled the delivery charge to nothing/free.

A real sleeper store for fine furniture.........JC PENNY.

Been doing a lot of furniture shopping the past few weeks and be damned if good ole JC PENNY is not coming away the most impressive.

Good deals currently on all leather couches and recliners.

Agree with you Sean, furniture shopping may rank higher in aggrevation than apartment hunting and buying a car...........real pain in the ass.

Seriously the furniture dealers don't seem to be that far apart around here...the furniture salespeople will try and sell you all those extended warranty BS packages that we don't need...I don't think that will matter to you though Sean.

Spend some of your money and Hire a Interior Design person to do your place for you...They will come bring samples etc. and you will not have leave your computer..so It costs a extra 18 to 20%....so what is your time worth it?

Couch shopper= MOM!!!

Had my mom (with my checkbook) design the whole inside of my house (before GF moved in) and she did an excellent job and she liked it too. Really depends on if your mom still knows whats going on, as some moms still think it is 1984.
