Mike Roxborough's Sportsbook Management--great book and very useful. Not an enjoyable read but whoever reads it will be smarter.

give me an idea of what interests the person you are buying for (poker player, wants to learn sports betting in and out, just gambling stories, etc..) and I can probaly throw out some ideas as I have about 25 gambling books I own and have read.

I would say 2 different types....1. Wants to learn sports betting in and out for the 3 major sports (football, baseball, hoops)
and 2. some stories......If u could list a few for both that you would recommend.

Thanks for the help Iceman

my favorite sports gambling stories are:
The Odds by Chad Millman
Smart Money By Michael Konik
Amarillo Slim in a world full of fat people by Amarillo Slim Preston

my favorite interview type books (these are great):
gambling wizards by Richard Munchkin
Six secrets of succesfull bettors (horse racing book but probably my all-time favorite).
Stephen Novers Sportsgaming beat by Stephen Nover

Learning the ins and out of capping and gambling:
Sharp sports betting by Stanford Wong
The Four Quarters of Horse Investing by Steve Fierro
The Unemotional Football Bettor by Scott Kellen
The Education of a Sports Bettor by Bob Mccune (my all time favorite)
Win More-Lose Less by Don Pesyrnski(sp)

Most of these books can be bought at Gamblers Book Club. They are very helpful. Good Luck!!!!!!

agree, that is a good start. Forums are more current, so book recipient likely is a relative newbie ? Something too specific to one sport likely inferior to Wong's more general overview, but he does lean to football. I consider Wong to really be best at blackjack.

SSB - it is the only book I know of that if you follow word for word and don't deviate, you will win money without having to make any picks.

I agree 100% on the Education of a Sports Bettor by McCune. A great book that covers what it takes to win and how to win, all at great depth.
