Im sure it varys from sport to sport, as many have read, CRIS says they are the LINE originators,,, lol not really true,,, but kindof,,, so I give Cris Mad Props for putting their Neck out,,

anyone really KNOW who decides the line? Is it MURRY who lives in Vegas???

Is it Juan who lives in Curacau??

and the REAL challenge ,,, is there AN EXACT TIME when
1. Pinny
2, OLY
3. CRIS

posts their Lines??

for those of you that know me and my system,,, Early Lines Mean Very Little to me,,, my system is on Home Teams,, so I get my Best line at 12 noon ish,,,

Who cares? Anybody can make a line it's not that much of a mystery. Beating the line is the hard part. If the linesmakers could beat the lines they wouldn't be making them in the first place.

Totally unneccary comment here. BODOG can't figure out first half NBA lines until 5 PM ET game day. Many books out there scared to put a simple line out. The greek would have a weeks worth of baseball lines up at times, PROPS.

I shouldn't have said it that way, but what I tried to say is what difference does it make? That still sucks but the point I'm trying to make is every book has an opening line so where do you start?

I have seen Pinnicle open games, Cris and Olympic have opened lines first. Some other books have opened lines on other sports first.

Is there really an opening line?

I have also opened lines on some major sports too, but I wouldn't consider it an opening line. It's just a line. I could have opened a game -4. But then opened it -5 for real.

Is -4 the opening line as that is the first line that I came up with and then adjusted it before anybody made a bet?

I assume same guy that sets halftimes for every event, he never sleeps LOL. He gets them up quick too, and for every game in an NCAA saturday pick your sport.

Don't know if you're being sarcastic, but Fezzik claims most half time lines are set via a formula, and I kinda believe him.

Believe it or not that is how they make them. I've seen it and couldn't believe it! No thought at all about how the game has been played.

That's why they are the best bets for any serious bettor.

Maybe I should of given some of the RUMORS,,,

I Have HEARD that there is a GROUP OF 5 that SITS on a PANEL, this Group Pays a LARGE figure to be on this Panel, they PAY for the oppertunity to MAKE INITIAL BETS on the NFL lines,,,

so the RUMOR I have heard is that this GROUP can bet up to 100K on a side or Total, and they SET the LINE accordingly

tate, I have heard similar things as well. The way I always heard it was that each week after the lines were made (for the NFL) they were given out to a few sharps to look over before they were made public. These sharps could then place bets and the linesmakers would adjust their lines according to this sharp action before making them public. Not saying this is true, just what I have heard from various people on here at different times.

Also, something somewhat similar can be seen at the beginning of the NFL season for Week 1. Books put up lines for Week 1 very early (July I believe) but with very low limits. The public bets the lines and the books adjust the lines accordingly before raising the limits to the normal amount a week or 2 before the season starts. Very good idea by the books in my opinion. Same thing is done for NCAAF.
