What are the odds of 4 turnovers in 4 plays?

That's what the Illini did today. Interception, then 3 straight fumbles, one on a kickoff, and two on 1st downs. Is that even possible?

It was actually 4 turnovers in 5 plays. But then on the sixth play, they fumbled again, but got it back. Shit was just ridiculous.

I went to this game with my old man since it was Dad's Day (my dad ha always loved the Illini and was so proud that I went to U of IL). Last time we went to a game together, the Illini beat Indiana at Memorial. After watching the turnovers, I felt like running to Murphy's pub and taking a shot for every fumble we had.

For the record, the pass interference call on 3 and long in the 3rd quarter happened right in front of us. The ref threw the flag way late and was twenty yards away from the play. Biggest crock of shiite.

This "Juice" Williams is one erratic POS. No possible way to prognosticate how this kid will perform from one week to the next. Until they Illini get a consistantly good or bad qb, betting on or against them will be the equivelent of a coin toss.

Wonder if the weather is the issue---Same thing with Ohio St - Northwestern. 6 turnovers in the 1st half (1 pick each, 3 fumbles by NW, 1 by OSU).

The kid is athletic as hell, and has a cannon. But he has no accuracy at all right now. It's gonna take a lot of work for him to be a good QB, but he has the tools if he does put in the work. Ohio St begged him to go there, so it was a nice steal for us. I hope he pans out. Today, they didn't need to pass, though. They were in complete control and their running game could not be stopped. Then the horseshit pass interference call, which prompted a Steve Bartman-like meltdown of turnovers.

Has nothing to do with money and bad beats. I did have a small bet on Illinois, but knew that I was gambling with the way they invent new ways to lose each week. As a fan, sometimes, I don't know why we get emotionally invested in teams that just rip our hearts out.

We do it because we love them, win or lose. I'm with you on this Illini, it is getting really old watching them "almost" win all the time. However, you have to say, that in a couple years the Illini are going to be where OSU is now. You can take that to the bank

But the guy has a cannon. He definitely has the tools to be a good well-rounded qb, and not just a runner. But he's not there right now, obviously.

I don't know about sneaking up on people. I think of them more as coming on like Butkus on steroids. . .
Hey, tell False D. to email me at my baranilla75 address. I have a question about 419 eaters.com and I see he's online, but can't find him. Thanks Illini.

Very basic math but this will give you an idea.

Assume 160 plays in a college football game.
Assume an average of four turnovers per game.
Assume an average of one turnover every 40 plays based on the above assumptions.
Assume the chances of an approx 1 in 40 shot happening four consecutive times and you are looking at about.....

1 in 2.5m

Way off ?

(Yes I know its Saturday night :nopityA: )

Thanks Mr. D.
As you know. Actually was having trouble logging in, so wouldn't be able to get the mail. However, the problem resolved itself. Thanks for helping though.

Obviously it depends on the weather (mainly) and the teams involved (do they have injuries so not used to the personnel, is it the start of the season and they have not played much together etc).

You trying playing football in driving rain or ice cold and tell me how often you fumble the ball.
