Or maybe take some of that money and add it to an increase of the minimum wage to give somebody a decent paycheck so they might be able to feed themselves and their family.

Bush's tax cuts have spurred private sector income and increased federal tax revenue - so elimination of the tax cut will shrink government revenue leading to the need for a tax increase to maintain the present structure.
Of course, both political parties could cut way back on the pork barrel and cut the buraucracy an easy 10% before anyone would notice.
