We apologize for the problems this morning

There was a problem with the new menu at the top of the forums. Everything was fine yesterday, but the huge traffic numbers we get on Sundays highlighted the problem. We dumped the menu for now and will put it back up when the problem is fixed.

Again we apologize for the inconvenience and will continue to do everything we can to minimize any downtime.

Thanks,
Rick

I personally want to apologise for the downtime experienced by The Rx. Forums this afternoon. A program called "localhost httpd connection" caused our servers to experience double the actual traffic that was online at the time..
Rx. Tech Support is aware of the problem and is taking steps to make sure this does not happen again.

Everyone here at The Rx. finds any down time most unfortuante and regretful. Hopefully this type of incident will become less and less common as time goes by.

Thank all fo you for your patience and understanding.

Kudos to the staff for identifying and correcting the problem and more importantly stepping up and accepting the blame instead of skirting the issue, which could have been done given that almost all of us don't understand the technical nature of the site. Although it would have been nice to get on this morning, life goes on. Thanks.

Like I explained on another thread, the problem arised when with the release of the new site, we changed our menu to a CSS menu which was being called using a localhost call. This ended up in every user request generating a double http call, obviously with the amount of users we handle at peak times this noticed and bogged down the server.

Our apologies on this matter, we changed the call of the menu completely using Vbulletin plugins with a local path, so the problem wont happen any more.

Thank you

It could be worse - CBS Sportsline is STILL down. So much for getting our fantasy football numbers today.
