Despite his enormous success as an NFL player, Jim Marshall is most famous for an incident in a game against the Niners, Marshall recovered a fumble, but ran 66 yards with it the wrong way, into his own end zone.

Thinking that he had scored a touchdown for the Vikings, Marshall then threw the ball away in celebration. The ball landed out of bounds, resulting in a safety for the 49ers

That was always the weird thing about that play, how he tossed the ball away as soon as he scores, you don't see players do that , especially back then.

Perhaps he was lucky he did so, as he may have been stripped of the ball by the opponent and a touchdown for the other team may have been the result.

If I recall correctly, the Vikings won this game by less than a TD too.

Fish,

Just heard on the Packer game yesterday that Favre is now number 3 all time behind 2 Vikings. Marshall the leader and another lineman who I do not recall.

Would it be true to say that as a quarterback you might get more recognition?

Tinglehoff(spelling) is 2nd behind Marshall.

Yes, he certainly would garnish more press if he had been a QB............the quarterback position recieves more press, plus in my mind it is harder to stay injury free at the QB position than the DE position.

However, feel MARSHALLS streak is every bit as impressive as Favres.

Think of all the bitter cold games that Marshall participated in..............as remember, this was pre-Metrodome days in Minnesota.

Fish,

Unfortunately I do remember as i turn 46 next f'n Sunday.

Purple People Eaters.....Bud Grant....... Fran Tark.........

To bad my Packers were crap then. Some of the youngsters in this forum never saw how the game was really played. I can remember, I think it was Larry McCarron who wore a chain from his arm to chest for an injury he had. Today they would be done for the year.

Age 46 here too, and also a PACKER BACKER.

Having grown up in Iowa, have watched EVERY MINN/GB game from 1970-present except for maybe a few recently.

What did they beat the Pack, how many straight?

It was brutal being a Packer fan attending elementary and high school .....as most of my friends were Viqueen fans and the PACK never beat the Vikes.

The good news is, with yesterdays victory, the PACK now lead the all-time series by one game!

Also, the ViQUEENS are still titleless.

I questioned McCarthy early in the year and thought I would give it time. I had a medium play on the Pack yesterday as I could not imagine Minn. giving 5- to anybody.

From the kicker to special teams, the game plan was awesome. No turnovers.

Look at all the high priced free agents Viqueens have and get beat by a bunch of rookies. There is allot of talk this morning over the air about how great they looked yesterday. About as much as the negative after the Buffalo game. Short memories.

I really like to see Favre enjoying himself. He has to answer to McCarthy unlike with Sherman. They were talking about getting him to sign for 2 more years. They will not be held hostage by Farve again..........McCarthy said. He gave Favre his own office in Lambeau recently.

They are still only mediocre but I do see promise. That Jennings kid is going to be a stud. Get rid of Woodson on special teams.

Do you get to watch the games? I had a place in Marco that I lost in a divorce. Was always nice to go down as a snowbird and hang out at Rookies and watch the Pack. Had every game but there was at least 4 tv's with the Pack on.

Lot of promise with this young team, which is the youngest in the entire NFL.

Correct, WR JENNINGS will be an all-pro in coming years if healthy.

AJ HAWK is getting better every week and love it when he and BARNETT are sent blitzing together.

Five years from now, think we can look back and say the PACKERS had a top five 2006 draft when compared with other teams.
