With the pressure of his job on the line...

Jim Hendry kept his 3rd baseman and brought back "Kid-K"...

Wood has started throwing and so far so good...IMO he will end up being Piniella's closer at some point next season...was nice to see Wood take a low number with incentives for "ending games"...he has gotten rich off the Cubs and only thrown 226 innings for them over the Last Three Years!!!

Ramirez gets rewarded for putting up numbers when the season was long over...when DLee went down, Ramirez proved that he could not pick up the slack...let the club down in many respects...he got the $$$ because Hendry has to win next year or he will be fired...this lazy player loves Chicago, but it will be very interesting to see if he loves playing for Piniella...who will not tolerate that baserunning he is so famous for (Milwaukee Last year)...

Right now Ramirez is the highest paid Cub...

I look for that to change shortly...as I believe they will throw a $100million Plus at Soriano...Hendry will not repeat the mistake he made last year on the Furcal deal.

Fire it up...The hot stove league is off to a fast start.

Ramirez could have gotten alot more from the dodgers or angels, took less to stay in chicago. for cubs fans they got a great hitter at a 20% discount. what a great signing. lots of incentives in the wood signing, also good deal for the cubs. i also agree they will be going after soriano, and hard, Hendry's days are numbered, he need to put a winner out there soon. any idea if they may be in the zito or schmidt race? i would think so, they definetly need another starter.

as for ramirez stuggles last year, you could tell how much he missed D lee in that lineup. with a healthy lee and possible soriono signing, his numbers definetly improve.
