Bobby Knight once again slapping his player around, when will it end with this clown?

Bobby Knight once again slaps his player, this time an upper cut to the kids chin, okay a slight exaggeration but not much.....what if the tables were turned and one of his players accidently head butted coach Knight?

:nopityA:
"He was trying to teach me and I had my head down, so he raised my chin up," said Prince, who was seen moving his jaw around as he sat on the bench after the confrontation. "He was telling me to go out there and don't be afraid to make mistakes. He said I was being too hard on myself."
:nopityA:

I wonder just how much influence Knight or Texas Tech officials had in this statement? Why any kid would want to play for Knight in 2006 is beyond me.

I would rather play for a coach like knight, then any other coach out there. and all that matters is that his players have that type of respect for him..... who cares what anyone else thinks. one of the top 5 coaches of all time in my book.

it really isn't that serious though. Did nothing wrong, his history of physical abuse is just hurting him here

He might be a good coach but he definitely gets off on hitting young boys.

I am waiting for one of these kids to fight back and football kick him in the nuts. I would beat his ass down in a moment. How about a quote from the man himself?

"I think that if rape is inevitable, relax and enjoy it."

WAS a great coach, he obviously has never related too well to his players, and his tactics are prehistoric...enough already....I suppose if that was your kid and he disrespected him it would be okay...I'm all for discipline but geez, whatever!

You didn't see Dean , Wooden or Coach K smacking his players.

^agreed (bacon).

I consider a great coach to have the demeanor of Belichick or Tony Dungy. They only strike fear into their players when they're obviously underachieving and they always get a positive response from their players afterwards.

If the day comes when a player fights back at him, I will definitely be proud of the kid. Unnecessary abuse is a big no-no in my book. You can relay the message in other ways.

J-lady,
His former players overwhelmingly respect and approve of his tactics, which I'm sure means more to BK than what some forum wimp thinks.

And as for the kid (Prince) last night, they interviewed his parents, who were both at the game, and they didn't think it was any big deal.

Posted this last night, but I'll post again:

This shouldn't even be news...it was harmless. That jerkoff kid should learn how to make eye contact with his coach and stop being a little bitch. At least he took responsibility for it after the game.

It takes a certain type of player to play for Knight...and that's the type that hasn't been spoiled and coddled throughout his amateur bball career.

There's a reason Isaiah Thomas considers him the best coach he's ever played for, as do others...it takes a tough-minded individual to play for him. He's as old-school as it get. And most of today's coddled high school kids can't handle being criticized.

I am sure some of you have played upper level sports or at least played competitive. I only keep in contact with the coach who pushed me the furtherest. I have been hit by the coach in practice when I was not paying attention.... no fist to the face but a nice slap to get my attention back. This kid is in college..... come on guys these guys go to play for him knowing his history and what type of tactics he employs. Are these college athletes really that big of babies that we feel we have to protect them over a slap to wake up in a game. As for me, I would hope that my COLLEGE kid understands that the coach is just trying to get the player to preform. Some people may say he goes about it the wrong way. although I dont think I would ever strike a player I was coaching and would think there is something wrong if it happened all the time..... but come on, these kids are tough and grown up, they can handle themselves.... way to big a deal over this in the media....

ESPN, Cowherd, Patrick...all of 'em are thrilled this happened. They love to pile on Knight. Then the ESPN guys that stuck up for Knight(Bilas and Coach Fran)...well they are all dopes. LOL. Makes you wonder why Patrick, Cowherd and ESPN in general have such a hard-on for Knight...

I do not have any kids...But if I did, I would love for my kid to play for Coach Knight.

:lolBIG: J lady...good one.

Point is you don't have to hit people to make a point. Bob Knight is a class act , yeah :drink:

What do you expect the kid to say? He's on scholarship at TT, you think he's going to start trouble? That's like a soldier starting trouble while in the military, he's in a helpless situation...if Knight methods still worked he'd still be reaching the sweet sixteen, on his name alone he should be getting cream of the crop recruits but that doesn't happen anymore.

I ve played sports at a very high level there's nothing wrong with discipline and getting on your players, actually I prefer it, someone needs to smack Knight in the mouth, he shows no respect.

Similar to you calling me a wimp and a lady instead of talking about the topic at hand :howdy:

If it was another coach who didn't have a history of manhandling, chocking, head butting , throwing chairs across the court, belittling every media member, battling his University Administrators, I could see your point.

These are 18 year old kids he's smacking around...maybe the kid did have a problem with eye contact, okay just smack him in the mouth, that will make it better.
