I have this problem also, my network is not SECURE, Im not too worried about it tho, coz I live on a golf course without many neighbours....

you somehow have to secure your network, and I also am interested in finding out how easy it is to do.

I have no idea at all. I thought wireless connections were safer for some reason.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly, but could you change your passwords and such?

What makes you think that someone is 'into your wireless connection'?

I see SSavant's reply. Don't wireless hubs (are they called 'routers?) at home encrypt? I've understood that wireless connections were far more safe than regular connections.....

Tulsa, they do encrypt, but you need to secure your network, anyone who comes into my house with a wireless enabled laptop can get right on the internet, because mine is not secure.

I can surf the internet using my neighbours connection, also, and im sure they can surf mine....

If I lived in an apartment building I would be worried about it, in fact, I should be worried about it anyway.

I see. It is not that your computer or its contents are endangered. It is that someone else can hop on and use your 'connection' without you knowing it.

I see.

I look forward to good advice in this thread. It won't come from me.

Good luck.

Hire a professional. Your privacy is worth it and it can be done relatively cheaply.

People wouldn't think twice about buying a car alarm system for $350. The information on your computer is wroth much more than this and it won't cost you as much.

Once they hop on to your "connection" its not too hard, if they know what you are doing, to get into your system...... but you have to be somewhat of an expert hacker, other than that, the danger is just that someone is using your connection.

Very easy. You are the administrater of your network. You can assign wep key. You can limit users etc. We have on that says unsecured but only the 3 ips here can get in just to fukk with people.
