One thing though, these schedules are made way in advance and are somewhat cyclical as far as how tough and who and when...the Irish have played many tough schedules over the years.
Look at the schedule below, that schedule looks a lot easier after Penn State and Michigan State both slipped as the year progressed...the first four games are very tough most years...I'm npot sure there are 5 teams in the country who would have been 7-1 after the first 8 games here.
