Modern evangelicals go back to the 18th century.

Are you saying they are over 200 years old?

They must eat lots of walnuts and red wine.

Don't know when it started, but I was raised in this environment. Seriously, took me a couple of years to shake that garbage. Kinda f'ed up to be 10 and think you are going to burn forever for lookin' at a playboy.

Fruitcake is a valid description for all of those fucks.

Though they have been around for longer than that the speaking in tongues and other so called gifts of the Spirit traces back to a movement started in southern California in 1906. One hundred years ago exactly.

I'll bet my last dollar there are posters here who have been involved in this "religious" movement as I once was. And I'm also sure there are those who have been involved in equally absurd aspects and offshoots of Eastern religious or native American mysticism perhaps seeking nirvana, or whatever catch phrase of the day describes that state; drug or non-drug induced, as I once was.

If you ever go into one of these modern day holy roller churches, you will find many worshipping in a trance like state they pick up from one another and or a handful of pills from the medicine cabinet at home. It all gets started by lengthy, very repetitive rock music.... very repetitive...and usually an hour or more of it. Then add some non sensical chanting and garbling for good measure.

And don't kid yourself, Ted Haggard ain't the only one in the congregation without an outside boost that's not from just the home medicine cabinet . Not by a long shot. I know back in the day, I made sure I would enjoy the music and the atmosphere as best I could. Then after that first hour a person can be made quite receptive to most any message. It is rather insidious really.

The problem is not man's inquisitive nature. The problem is when man loses his ability to discern the lies and dogma and gets lost in the warm and fuzzies. Becomes as addictive as the activity I'm now involved in and planning out for today.

The truth may never be learned. When you have learned that much, you have at least learned some truth. Just ask Bob Dylan.

Well enough about this shit. Let's all have a Happy Thanksgiving and win some $$$.

Check out what this former catholic has to say. I love debating with
these people. Anyone see the former Kirk Cameron on one of those
church channels on direct tv. I was watching him for awhile on what
he had to say. It's been a long while since the show Growing Pains.
